I am having a flyer designed, I have yet to add text but would be interested in peoples thoughts and positive input on the design. I will be looking at distributing it to the local business parks to get companies to think about how much they are being overcharged for their IT services.

You will have to enter the link in manually as I cant post links on here yet.

midland networking.com / flyer (just remove all the spaces)

Price for this sort of thing is a pointless as your mainpoint, prices dont range thatmuch nad others wil always try to undercut you, what are your USP's? what can you offer that most cannot? when you work that out you will do well.

Just a small comment - why the different domains for web and email? .co.uk and .com - might that make people think that you've made a mistake somewhere?

I have no idea how you are designing a flyer which is designed to put across a message without any text.

You need to understand your marketing message before you can present it in such a way as to invoke the best response.

You need a clear message with a clear call to action.

All I see with what you have got so far is a big mixed message. Your colours are not very IT. They are muted and washed out. You have high contrast text in a handwriting font which could be hard for some people to read. In addition to that I'm counting around 5 different fonts used so far. 3 would really be max.

Without your message it is hard for a designer to focus on the best layout.

Hope that helps.

Bit too funky to my mind for IT services – I guess a more corporate look might be safer? I shall wait for the designers out there to correct me...!
Good luck with it though.

i wont critique as it being designed by a member here. But the "network" and arrow blend in way to much. To many fonts. Needs better spacing.

Also i agree simon, you really need to get your message fixed before asking a designer to do his stuff. This design may have been totally different if they had all the details from the start.

Hideous colours

lime green and grey :|

Font ..not the clearest font

Important things to be aware of re flyers

1. Most end up in the bin without a glance

2. Those that get a glance get it for 2 seconds and then go in the bin

3. What you going to do to bypass 1 and 2 and be read?

4. What are you then going to do to turn that reader into a buyer?

ok

Your flyer needs a very compelling headline and graphic

(cooker bleeping, back later)

Midland.

You have to get people to act. And with flyers that is hard.
Think about the marketing message and copy, not the pretty design

My suggestion is three fold.

You either offer a free 12 point guide for checking how
efficient peoples IT spend is -for which they have
to sign up on your website.

Or

You offer a 1 hour free onsite audit to do the same,
and when people sign up for it - you ask some basic
questions about IT infrastructure and spend
(BTW ....use bands. people are far more willing to tick a box than writea figure

Or

Offer a prize full day audit for one lucky winner incombination with 1 or 2 above
for anyone replying before date - you get to choose the winner, so you can pick the one with most potential!!

These marketing messages are what will
help a flyer to work.

BUT

A suitably targetted direct mail with attached object is likely to do better still
But thats for another day..

First of all, the colours are really not appropriate for an IT-based company. The green and grey also make the flyer look dull and uninviting. I'd be tempted to say that the logo is too large, and taking up too much real estate on the page. You really need some kind of bullet points or stand out headlines which draw in the user and show, instantly, what your company does and what it can provide. Having an image in the dead centre makes that the star of the show which leads them away from the text - not good! There are also too many fonts in the copy - somebody above mentioned this also - you really should attempt to limit this to 2 or 3 (at a push).

Here is a flyer I created for an IT company from Birmingham, which shows most of the points I mentioned above :

I tried (unsuccessfully) to get them to add a call to action / offer on there but I highly recommend doing that! Give people a reason to use Midland Networking, rather than a competitor.

May I add that there should be a benefit, question, piece of news in the form of a headline to grab their immediate attention

I usually suggest very sensible headlines, but how about something a little different

'Did you know ....

7/10 computer nerds prefer decaff?

Next time one of our experts pop around to service your PC
please remember that

This is cheeky but might just grab their attention long enough for them to read about the benefit, services etc on offer.

A more sensible headline

Did you know ...
You can prolong the life of your PC by 4 years by
upgrading/servicing and increasing the memory ?

Prolong the life of your PC for as little as £45
with our PC servicing & cleaning package

No idea if this is true, it's hypothetical sample, but you get the gist.
Good luck

Leah

Purely on the design. I'll repeat what everyone else has said - too many fonts. But also, they're all pretty nasty fonts. Do you think using a cartoony comic font suggests you're a professional IT company? And too many graduated fills - makes it very hard to read. Looks kinda like a bad club flyer.

Not trying to be scathing, just saying it how I see it.
