Its very slick and clever, but who is it for? I mean its basically an iphone/touch, same OS but more powerful. Obviously you can do a lot more with a device this big, but then its the same foot print as a net book which can do even more.

And if you don't want to carry around something as big as a netbook but want the functionality of this new thing you would come very close with the iphone that fits in your pocket.

I love my iphone because it does so much, and its one device that slips in the pocket. I'm just not sure how/when I would use a iPad though! If I wanted to carry something to big to go in my pocket it would be my far superior laptop.

Anyone got any theories?

This would probably be more appealing if it was more like a laptop speed processor and cost more, this is basically a large iphone - and i have a normall iphone so why would i want this?

And your normal iPhone, is also a phone!

$999? For that money you could buy a much more powerful and versatile laptop than anything Apple will sell you. I have no doubt the trendy gadget crew will lap it up but thats not a big enough market for a company like Apple.

I'm baffled, really am! Maybe it's just a vague stab in the dark to keep people excited whilst they work on the next gen iPhone.

In fact, this could be a next gen iPhone, pre minituristation.
