Ice Cream Bikes

Im looking at buying a ice cream bike in the traditional 1950's style. I am planning to buy this and then use it to cater at events, such as weddings, corporate events and other private hire functions.

I was woundering if anybody else had experience in this area, and if there is a market for this type of service.

Any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated.

A couple of hire services and bikes for sale, can give a good indication that there is a demand....

Ive nothing against going to an icecream bike but i woud never hire one for a wedding - it might be quite quirly but i think you would struggle to get the bookings

not only that, weddings you normally get a dessert which may well be ice cream anyway.

Also you have a 3-6month trading period where your banking on sunny days, if its raining/cold then chances are the events would be indoors.

Sorry but i just dont see it as a business

I think it could work.

I can think of about a zillion different events where this 'ice-cream bike' would/could be popular.

And yes, it is very quirky, which alone could make it a hit.

Theres ALWAYS someone who wants to do things differently. Its just finding 'these someone'!

I do think dependance on the weather would be a bad thing though.

All the best, it sounds really interesting!

It could work.

Ice cream vans for weddings are pretty popular and I imagine an ice cream bike would be alot cheaper to hire than that. And like BizGurl said, it's quirky and there's always someone who wants to do something a little differently.

It might not be enough to run as a full business on it's own but it might make a nice extra to add to an already existing business.
