How to get firstpage in google?

The link was intended for Chunkford who made a comment about YouTube not being a search engine, and to be honest I've had it with this post so you'll have to find someone else to argue the toss with as I'm sure you will.

Insulting as it was I didn't bite.
The Forum is for information and you posted something which you expected to be accepted by everyone, but on a forum it will be "discussed, dissected and analysed" by anyone who reads it.

Don't take it as hostility - If you took time to notice - I made a positive post about your service.

Hmmmm ... Google the search engine owns YouTube and they describe it as the 'World's 2nd Largest Search Engine"

I wrote specifically about this when I attended a Social Media conference in London with Bruce Dainsley (ex-Google, YouTube, now Twitter bigwig) Here's some SEO YouTube facts I wrote on the train home.

No disrespect to Busyvids intended, but I don't think these type of videos are of any real value. I see them as the spam of 2012.

They are not laser targeted to the search term - a bit like running a PPC campaign with your home page as the landing page :p

The script simply repeats what is already on the website.

The voice overs are bland and don't convey emotion or draw me in at all. More like a documentary rather than an marketing message.

I would imagine that the average viewer would stop viewing long before the video ends.

I did ask Busyvids in a previous thread if he tracked the results and he said he didn't. So it's hard to know if they are truly of value or not. A test is on my todo list :D

If they are of huge value, I cannot see why the marketer in Busyvids would not track them and get valuable information for an easy upsell of more videos related to the hundreds of other long tail keywords in the particular niche. We all know, do we not, that it's far easy to sell to an existing customer than to find new ones...

As for the comment that there are no holiday related videos on page 1, perhaps it's just because no one has thought to try...:p

I didn't really know how it would 'go down' and time constraints have stopped me continuing but I really should get my finger out and get some more Party Shop filming done :D

Quirky, and that's what you need to stand out. But the problem with youtube videos is that it's another layer for your customer to eventually get to your website. You can add all the videos you like to youtube but at the end of the day you want conversions that leads to money in your pocket and youtube will act like a buffer until you pay G for the privilege.

As suggested though you can add a in-video layer to make the URL of the website stand out or add an in-video layer to try and force an action but people are lazy (even me :eek:) and wont go through the hassle of typing out the URL in the address bar. Unfortunately you can't place an actual external link in an in-video layer.

I would say though at least put a URL in the description (at the start making sure you use the absolute URL) with an in-video layer prompting the user to click it. You may get some action from that for free.

Or

You can signup for YouTube Paid Promotions account which then allows you to place an "Call To Action Overlay" such as the one at the end of this video - http://youtu.be/FszYwQhESF0

I cannot see where to add an in-video layer.

There is an option called "annotation" where I can add a Speech Bubble, Note, Title etc.

Any pointers?

I second the motion. Even if you'd go for paid services, it wouldn't be that easy to get page 1.

BTW, add the http:// to the URL in your description. It should pick it up then as a clickable link.

Give up now and go get a job in McDonalds. Seriously. That is like asking 'how long does it take to make a million pounds. If your business is solely dependant on google, then you have no business.

To get first page in google we must get a quality back links so that we get more traffic. And thus google crawls our page often and by this we can come under google's first page.

Chasing first page is a lot harder considering the is often only one unpaid link on their now. As people catch on to those extra paid link they might start clicking to page 2 without even seeing that one unpaid link. So if you don't mind I'll chase positions 2 to 11 :-)

Took me 4 months to get to first page and top 6 in my keywords.
Not easy though.
After all was said and done...all it requires was a lot of your time.

There is no actual time maybe 3-5 months. But it is still depend on your backlink and site popularity.

Its hard work... And anybody that guarantee your 1st place keyword placement within hrs or even days and want you to pay in advance is either scamming you, or have a system that will make millions if they sell it....

There is many free ways in helping to push your website to the top of results and you are welcome to request more info if needed...

It varies......

I can create a website and rank it #1 on page 1 in google in 1 day...... Does it mean anything? No because the keyword is "I am just proving to everyone that I can rank a website in google in 1 day, everyone on UKBF that is"

Varies on competition and your knowledge on SEO.

It is a nightmare trying to get on the first page of google. Takes Time! Alot of SEO

I spoke to a friend of mine and she was doing my SEO For a while! I did ask her how many clients she did have and she told me im her only main client 'Nothing Compares to you' she would say.

I told her I need to make more money to eat in a fancy restaurant and how long would it take to get on page 1 of Google.........she reckoned it would take seven hours and fifteen days!

I think you can Google her - her name is Sinhead something...............

Reality being ive always found good activity on Google with a new launch within 12 weeks!!

Depends on these factors:

Keywords
Competitiors
URL
Traffic through your site
Your sites bounce rate
Quality of incoming links
Title Tags
Meta Description

If you have medium competition, really high quality links, a good domain and good on site SEO it can be done in a month.

Choose less competitive search terms that include your target keywords to start.

As several have said it is a complicated matter.

There are a variety of factors, if you want to get to the 1st page of Google for an obscure keyword, then it wouldn't be difficult. For more mainstream words, it boils down to on-site and off site SEO as well as competition.

Ensure your onsite SEO, keywords, content etc are up to scratch

Off site, build quality backlinks using anchortext, ideally themed links that relate to your own websites content, eg Guest posting.

I always make it simple for clients and say it depends on your business, your relationship with other business who can help you (i.e. your contacts), the competition, your budget and whether or not you choose us.

I also make them aware that they might upset people along the way as their ranks improve. You noob SEOs will know about it the first time you or your client receive a letter from a competitior or when your client loses a subcontracting contract from a client who they outrank and you've failed to pre-warn them. There are pros and cons to this game, be realistic and form good relationships with your clients.

How to get top in google ?? what a interesting question if we all knew that we would all be sat over looking the med on a warm evening with a nice cold beer :D

But here is how i do it .

1. make a cup of tea . have the name of the company and what they do strengths etc all known, make notes of strengths weaknesses etc etc.
2. make a second cup of tea , and research competition make notes etc etc..
3. make another cup of tea , pop into domain buying and buy the right domain, while that is registering, flick over to your server set the space you want up etc and even pre configure emails etc.. by now if its co.uk its all registered so click back over point domain to the new server space..
4.make another cup of tea, while waiting for pointing changes to occur decide on layout of the web ,select colours - layouts and have noted exactly how and what the seo content needs to be to get results .. spend a lot of thinking time and about 2 cups of tea on this bit , ;)
5. nock up the website in one foul swoop, everything all at hand then put it live online .
6. another cup of tea , and sit back and tinker a tad , fine tune.and its all done.
7. after the final cup of tea stick a few posts with the address of the website on and its job done.

between 1 day and 3 days dependant on competition and type of business and most times page 1 within a day if its an easy product .harder can take a few weeks. some it just never happens if Mr Google is in a bad mood maybe :D, then you need plenty of extra tinkering and links and more cups of tea ..and patience ...

The secret ? i tell you but keep it quiet .. its "Tetley Tea" best damn tea available :D
