how to get a deleted url back on wordpress

Using wordpress I made a page years ago and long deleted it. But when I try to create a page using that long deleted url wordpress wants to add a number to the end of it. I'm guessing this is a database issue? How can I get that url back?

oh wait, it was an image that was stopping me using it.

original page will be in the 'trash', WP hold the URL open in case you want to restore it.
Go to trash, either restore the deleted page or "delete permanently" to release the URL.
