Hi,

I have been having a look around the forums here and they all look very interesting and helpful, so I thought I would introduce myself.

My name is Tom Blake and I run a website called www.somewheretosleep.co.uk . It is aimed at (yes you guessed it!) places to sleep, such as bed and breakfasts, hotels, campsites etc.

It is relatively new and now my focus is getting it 'out there', so any help anyone could give me would be most appreciated!

Thanks All,

Tom.

Hi, thanks for the replies.

I think my main focus is online marketing, mainly getting good listings in the search engines. So any good tips on this would be a start!

Thanks! :D

Hi Tom

Welcome to this excellent forum.

I was impressed with your web site and once you have more contributors marketing themselves on it I am convinced you’ll have a winner, very professional,

As one who has spent years living out of a suitcase while on business I would certainly find this site useful and it is now bookmarked.

Best wishes

Ian

Hi there

I am based in Dorset too so hello!!!

Have you considered advertising within Tourist Information offices? What about creating leaflets to put in these places and B&Bs etc.

How about anyone who lists on your site also gives you a link on their own site.

For eg. www.abandb.co.uk is listed on www.somewheretosleep.co.uk

I also travel a lot and have bookmarked you!

Hi Tom, that site would have been sooo useful a few months back - not a campsite free for miles!

Best wishes and welcome anyway,

Rob

Hi there, and welcome. Can I make a couple of quick comments about your website? 1- with the title of the site I was expecting a soothing colour scheme, and inviting graphics enticing me to browse for a while. But not even a wee graphic of a bed. 2 - The website at the moment defiantely shows a focus on pulling in advertisers. I think this is a bit of a turn off for people looking to use your site to find info. How about the homepage asking a visitor to choose what info they want.... a bed, or to advertise?
Just a wee thought. Good idea though, and I know loads of people who would find it useful, including me.
Do you offer 'customer reviews' or ratings of each place? That would be good too.

I tried looking in 'Wales', left 'children' blank but wanted 'pets allowed'. I got one response that said children were allowed but pets were not :? Not exactly what I wanted! What is the point of the search facility if it doesn't point you in the required direction? (I do appreciate that you need more venues on the site.)

Bad spelling mistake in 'oppurtunity'.

It's been a while since I last made a post, but thanks for all your comments. I am looking into the few issues raised and hope to have them sorted soon.

Thanks again everyone!

I like the idea of that, although there is no info about on the page you posted. A few stats such as amount of emails being sent, how many weeks in the year you would be used?

Tom!
