I started my website at the end of January, I have 64 members and have had 5,000 vistors.

I could really do with some advice on ways to get more vistors to my website. I have placed ads in classified directories. I also have google adwords, that seems to be bringing in nothing,

Any advice would be greatly appreaciated thanks

I'm guessing your business/website/aim is about making money, affiliate related? If so you need to advertise in places where people are interested in networking and really making money.

Ideas

1.Online UK MLM / Affiliate forums

2.Online UK Classified ad sites - posting a free ad and slo featuring it on the sites homepage helps to increase sales and exposure. Update and check your ads weekly, monthly.

3.Outdoor advertising. Leaflet posting, door to door. Do it yourself, get someone else to do it, do it at night - midnight lol if you want.

4.Social networking sites - where people are interested in what you're offering. Make sure you make a www.facebook/your_business_page (link is not real, example) and encourage people to join you.

Website is moneymakingmummy.co.uk (I am not allowed to post link yet) its all about money making and saving.

So do you think google adwords is no good?

google adwords can bring you a real traffic to your website, but the campaign needs be set up correctly i.e. keywords research, region

Think about social marketing, facebook page, twitter, myspace, digg, yahoobuzz, postings on blogs etc.
look at: www.linkedin.com where you can set up your business info page and people can connect to you.

Thanks for your honest opinion, I suppose the probelm being I understand my website lol but new users dont, I am a freebie, moneymaking hunter so i look for free things and ways to earn, although I am comfortable with it does not mean someone else will be,

Thanks for looking at my website and providing me with your honest feedback it is much appreciated !!

I cant put my finger on why, but your website makes me feel uncomfortable, maybe I dont fully understand it

things like "Please note you will be required to put in your bank details but you will not be charged" don't filll me with confidence,

whats your conversion rate on the traffic you have had since starting up? (how many people are taking the action you want them to take, ie; sign up)

if its low maybe I am not alone in feeling uncomfortable with it and maybe this should be looked at.

This is in no way an attack on you just my honest opinion and trying to help, as you could have:

5000 visitors with only 1% conversion rate (50 sign-ups)

but better to have

1000 visitors with 10% conversion rate (100 sign-ups)

hope this helps

Hello :)

There is a Work at Home Mums Directory here: http://www.wahmdirectory.webs.com/

and they have a Facebook page here: http://www.facebook.com/#!/wahmdirectory?ref=ts

The directory itself is fairly new but it's a free web link if nothing else! This lady http://www.facebook.com/weetootie joined the WAHM Directory Facebook group only a few weeks ago but she posts several times a day and has gained so much business from it that she has had to take a week off to catch up with orders (she makes accessories for babies and children.)

I would join the directory, Facebook page and become a fan of Wee Tootie and then watch what Wee Tootie does and adapt it to suit your own business - it seems to be working for her.

Hope that helps :)

Jill

BTW, I've bookmarked your site as I love a money-saving idea!

Hi,

Your site is a great idea but I feel the same as Danny; I can't put my finger on why but it just makes me feel uneasy. There is a lot of text on your homepage, which can also seem overwhelming to a new visitor.

As for advertising, a facebook group, and a catchy slogan, something like "The site that aims to prove there is such a thing as a free lunch!", will go a long way. Also posting on parenting forums if that is the demographic you are trying to reach. Although i agree with previous poster, Students will LOVE this type of thing!

Best wishes and the best of luck,

Susan

Hi there

Email marketing is a very good way of increasing customers / traffic, I have many customers who have bought our email data for marketing and have found success.
It is not just about the emails obviously it is about getting the campaign right
Let me know if I can help

Try a PR campaign targeting your particular audience. For example, The Sun had a credit crunch section (not sure if they still do) and there were often pieces in here on your kind of website. Draw up a list of websites and press read by mums and students and target them all with a press release. Also, get some site reviews and try to get on some lists of best money saving sites. Write some tips guides and distribute them to press and online alike, try to become an authority on saving money and give good advice and you will get some quality traffic.

I think it would be fantastic if you include some form of call to action on your homepage to encourage sign-ups. Currently when I go to your site I see no immediate benefit to signing up, reading on I still don't understand the need of signing up. Perhaps I am missing something?

You could include some incentive to help push conversions, this could include a free white paper on earning money from home or exclusive member content.

Here is a link to a great site with call to action techniques:

PS sorry can't do hyperlinks yet, I am new to UK Biz Forums :)

My advice would be to try social networking (blog, facebook fan page, twitter)

It's hard work at the start but once you get the ball rolling it can be worth it, even if it turns out to be a non runner at least it's only cost you in time and effort.

I launched our fan page 2 weeks ago and we have around 170 fans so far which is way more than I ever expected.

Quinnspares fan page on facebook incase you want to check it out or else our Twitter is Quinnspare.

Good luck!!!

So i clicked on want to be a TV extra, it linked to beonscreen, im already a member of that site - do they pay you for there details there?

Why would i need to become a member of your site when the information i need is freely available.

Also starnow.co.uk advertise for extras regularly and also magazine shoots - ive shot for the sun and reveal mag with them and the pay is good

On facebook - if you actually browse the sites that your advertising that have work - send a mail message to all fans to tell them about the work available and then put them in touch with your site, theres a group called models, extras and something else - they email me 6 times a day with work offers and they have lots of fans and there website is feedmework.com or .co.uk just an idea

just taken a quick look at your website and while it's laid out well... I believe it's lacking in areas of functionality which help draw in sign ups.

May I suggest adding numerous call to actions, more images (as it's incredibly text heavy) and perhaps flash interactivity (be conservative as excessive Flash can mess with SEO) for starters.

A growing trend nowadays is embedded video presentations.. they work well but can be expensive.

Perhaps a look at one of my developer websites (currently a work in progress) may give you some ideas. thegymguide (.com)

If you would like feel free to give me a call on 07779 838568 and i'll be happy to run through some more ideas with you.

kind regards,

Peter

It's already been mentioned about the "look" of your site and the "text rich environment", it simply does not look like a "Mummy" web site and that may be one of your answers.

Why not look at developing sister sites, "Money Making Students" has already been mentioned..."Money Making Part-Time" ...."Money Making From Home"...all with pretty much the same content, just different home pages.

A re-design of the site is essential, it needs to appeal to your target market... do you have an analysis of the traffic? How many people visit which pages? Are they going to the home page then leaving?

Try to cut down the number of clicks to get to the information, I had to make 3 clicks to get to the full list of cashback sites...why not just one click? Make the buttons big and bold and take the viewer direct to the page.
