Help with finding a courier for ebay/amazon business

Hi guys

I've been running a cleaning and janitorial supplies business for the past year or so.

I want to start selling online on ebay and Amazon to help grow my business. The main things I am looking to sell are Centrefeed Blue Rolls, Hygiene Couch Rolls, Toilet Rolls, Paper Towels. I have searched on eBay and Amazon and there are quite a few people selling these items online and doing pretty well too. Having looked at what price top sellers are selling for on there I know I can definitely compete if not beat them prices.

I was wondering if anybody could give me advice/guidance on which courier company to use and if anyone has sold things like this in the past or even now could you tell me how much posting these items out will cost roughly?

My blue roll packs are
Case size: W: 335mm H: 180mm
L: 500mm Weight: Approx 3kg
* biggest sellers online are bulk buys of 8 packs or 6 packs - how much would postage be for 8 or 6 packs?

Paper Towel box is Length: 310mm
Width: 230mm, Weight: 7.12kg

Hygiene Couch Roll Box size:
W: 335mm H: 510mm L: 335mm.
Box weight: 9.098 kg

Toilet Rolls Case size: W: 515mm H: 190mm L: 280mm
Case weight: 2.479 kg
Again these are being sold in packs of 2,3,4 or 6 how much would postage be for multiple cases?


If anyone can help me with how much these would cost to post, or if anyone works with or for a courier company please get in touch your help will be most appreciated. I already stock all these items so once I confirm a courier I can get started right away.

So you say you can compete with your competitors prices but you've not got any prices from couriers yet?

How many packages can you shift a day on eBay and amanazon? and what price have you allowed in your calculations for the postage service?

Which couriers have you contacted so far, and what prices have they given you?

under 5kg would be hermes and over 5kg I get cheapest prices with UK mail, TNT are the best for me for oversize or out of shape heavy items drop me a message if you need more information, I use a broker for my courier items that allows me to use quite a few different courier all from one system, happy to put you in touch

You have factored in the returns rate, the cost of courier sending item they cannot deliver back to you, what happens when price changes, what happens if you have to change courier etc?
Cheap couriers can also be couriers that cost you a lot.
Use them by all means, only you can figure out if a courier service meets your needs and every courier service will have horror stories.
If there are quite a few people selling on the sites you have competition. Do not bet that the price you see the item at will stay that price.

if you undercut me on ebay I would return the favour , its a margins game then which you may well lose if your a smaller organisation, best bet is to match lowest prices and work on your ratings as this is what will get you ranked above someone else in the long run, get your power seller status get your top rated seller, stay away from cases etc and bad feedback and you will be gold,

its very easy to get banned off ebay and amazon (I know because ive been banned off both before so keep your nose clean )

If its any use ours would charge around £4 for all the above weights and sizes but also added would be fulfilment charges, usually between £1 - £2 per shipment depending on quantity shipped.

Take a look at the brokers to get some ideas of pricing. Parcel2go, Interparcel, Parcelmonkey etc

Just to come in on this and say that sending multi-piece shipments e.g. 6-8 cases per shipment means you need a "con and kilo rate". Some companies offer this whilst others offer a per parcel rate.

The reason for this is the need to process a lot of additional parcels vs charging on an individual parcel rate.

Therefore for Multi-Piece shipments you need to speak with the below couriers:
Interlink (now DPD local), APC, UK Mail, FedEx, TNT & Tuffnells. They will be able to offer you a price for example of £7 for up to 20kg next day UK.

The likes of DPD, Hermes, DX, Yodel, the parcel broker sites & ParcelForce, charge more for 'multi-piece shipments' and would therefore charge you per individual parcel e.g 6 x £5 so £30 per delivery.
