Hello everyone

I am seeking advice on starting a shop from home, I have a large empty building at the side of my house and would love to turn it into a small shop selling every day groceries. Can anyone assist in info and possible legalities on this.
Thanks

Thanks,
Would i need planning permission as the building needs no work doing, is it naturally perfect.

No its not a shop, i built it a few years ago as a utility room but was never used as anything.

Then you will need Planning Permission for the change of use. I don't think this will be easy so advise you to speak to them and speak with an expert in the area.

If it is a Utility room and it is directly on your land I cannot see the Council giving permission, however I may be wrong. The days when we ran a shop from our shed/garage etc are gone

If you can prove there's a lack of grocery (or any other type of?) shops locally, that young women/eldery etc. can access without difficulty/public transport, and you'd fill that gap, you'd increase your chances... but it'd still be a fight.

Speak to your neighbours first.... find out thier views. If they object then they can object to the planning permission. It would save you money in the long run
