Hi,

At the moment I am choosing the backend for my new ecommerce site. The problem is that I will need some custom features like user uploading files, voting elements, custom user profiles and more. Can anybody suggest what would be the best solution for me right now.

Also, lets say I will be using magento (or similar open source), So, if by using such backend I will want some new feature from the sky (completely custom) I will be able quite easily add it with custom programming?

Are you looking to make this yourself? If you are then it would help if we knew what the and more actually is. So far everything you have mentioned can be done with most carts.

Generally speaking, off the shelf packages necessarily cater to the most commonly used options ... i.e. they may set out to satify 95% of the market 90% of the time. This means that extensibility - the ability to add modules, customise features, etc. - takes a back seat. Magento is a hugely powerful tool - but you probably don't need 90% of what it can do, and what you really need is the custom stuff you'd like to implement. In which case you're going to need something bespoke.

Alternatively, perhaps consider a more standard implementation of an ecommerce solution at first - so that you can get something up and running and have a proof of concept - before then looking at adding on custom modules and such.
