I have obtained exclusive UK distribution rights for a great product that is sold overseas. There is a big gap in the UK market for it and I think it can work well. My only problem is im not sure where to start when looking for distributors and stockholders. Anybody have any advice?

Its a drink that is proven to have health benifits, there is nothing like it in the UK, with some advertising behind it, it could work very well in boots, superdrug or even vending machines. The only issue I have is that I have no knowledge on how to get started when seeking distribution. Going to trade shows and fairs isnt an option as I work a 50 hour week and have little time to dedicate to this business.

your bussiness wont work if can dedicate time towards it....and at least 50 hours should be spent on getting it up and running. other wise you will just limp in to a very competive market and be showdoed by the big guns and be end up having your product in the redcued short dates products basket by the tills.

Information is available on purchasers within a massive amount of groups. But if you are not going to put adequate time in with relevant research then don't expect to be gifted with this information.
You want a business, put some legwork in or join an organistation that could help you along the right route.

okay, here is my attempt at a serious answer- although I admit it does sound like the product maybe could be non-legit, and you may not have enough spare time to make this work.

Basically
-if your not in the industry its hard to find distributers, there are not many published lists
- go to your local trade devt. council, library, etc, to look if there are any distributer lists
-google for distributers
-find similar products and contact their distributers (listed on the label.)
- thats enough for starters

Hi,

I agree with the person who said you need to spend some time on this if you want it to work. there's loads of things you can do, but you need to put the effort in. if you can't be bothered then it will show in the results of your business. don't mean to be harsh, just honest! :)

It don't think in the drink industry it matters how good your drink is: look at coke, fanta - what crap drinks... they are not even tasty if you didn't drink them for a while. Everything that matters is brand and distribution, if you have the best drink in the world - it doesn't really matter as you can easily copy it or create something very similar. Formula protection for drinks doesn't work as you can easily tweak it a bit and legally it will be a different drink and your rights don't work any more.
