Hello, I am struggling with google maps and would appreciate any advice. Basically what happened was I put my listing on there several months ago. I realised afterwards that I'd made a typo on my website url, so I tried to edit the listing by correcting it and also adding some photos etc. I got sent a verification card eventually to approve the changes, put the code in and voila problem solved. Or at least that's what I'd have liked, what actually happened was a duplicate listing popped up. Now there is the incorrect listing and the corrected listing both showing at the same address. The incorrect one is listing A and is over the top of the other one naturally, so my corrected one isn't really visible.
I don't show up through google maps/places unless I type in my keyword then zoom all the way in to my house. I am on page 8 when I just search normally and both listings show up. I know google penalise for duplicate listings so I have reported the problem through my profile but absolutely jack squat has happened, other than some of these messages appearing in my inbox;

Hi ,

Thanks again for sharing your local expertise with other Google users! We
have reviewed Rain Defence Roofing because of your report.

Please note that Rain Defence Roofing is an owner-verified listing and some
updates require the approval of the business owner before they are applied.

Am I doing something wrong? It's been months now and I have read somewhere that reports are ignored if its an owner verified listing as it should be editable through my profile. The problem is, when I try and edit through my profile, only the correct listing shows up. When I click 'view your listing on google places' then the incorrect one shows. The messages I've had back from google are just auto responses and nothing at all happens. If reports are ignored if the listing has been claimed then how do I actually sort this out?

Thanks.

Hi,

have you added the meta key from Google webmaster central to your site and verified it? This proves you own the site.

Thanks.

You will need to find both listings on google places which i think you said were on page 8, you then need to verify the other duplicate listing, wait until you receive the google pin number, enter pin number, wait a few days, then from your google places dashboard then suspend the duplicate listing from google places, wait a few more days then completely delete it from your google places dashboard

I hope that makes sense, please pm me if you need anymore help
