Hello Guys

I have an empty shop (A5) on a busy main road (Traffic busy in ) Nottingham East midlands and am looking for ideas on what I could doo there.
I have thought of in the lines of a Pound shop or even a booze buster, but there is already an off licence next door but one.

I have put it To Let but I get wanaby retailers who don't really have a clue.

Now with the credit crunch and having to pay rates on the shop even when empty, I need to doo something quick.
It's a nice corner glass fronted double shop located on the main road with 822sq feet sales area. Neighbouring shops include an off licence, Pizza shop, pizza curry and kebab shop, Cafe and a cob shop.

Any ideas welcome

At the moment its safe to say that all retailers are having tough times, it appears based on our sales of shop shelving at the moment that those doing best are either pet shops, convenience stores, off licenses and discounted food stores (probably the best right now, near sell by date groceries etc). The big supermarket chains have killed off the high street unfortunately.

Hi,

You need to think about your short / medium / long term goals. If you want long term return just let it out. However the idea of setting up business there makes great sense.

Have you thought of a training centre, We supplying many training centres at the moment, this seems to be an industry that is growing rapidly especially with the long term unemployed and many losing there jobs.

Check out a pitman training franchise if you have the interest.

Is it big enough to let out little sub-units to small start out retailers on very short lets? May be 6 weeks at a time - lots of people would like the opportunity to try their hand at retail without risking their homes to do it, you could create a real in-door market which might prove to be the making of some locl entrepreneur!

Have you considered a franchise such as Subway for example? They tend to do well in that kind of environment?
