Going about selling domain names

Out of interest has anyone got any information they can give me about changing ownership for domain names if someone buys it from you.

If its .uk then you need to do a registrant transfer through Nominet. £10+vat.
Just log into the nominet site and do it from there. There is no other way to do it other than nominet (dont get taken in by the "free push' some sellers advertise. That wont change the registrant.
If its .com/net/org then you will need the unlock code to transfer to another registrar where the registrant can then change the ownership details. Or some registrars offer the ability to do a push which in this instance would allow for change of registrant.

Well i've been looking into things, i've currently got two unused domain names
diet-book.co.uk
bloggitz.co.uk

I've just appraised both of these with http://www.urlappraisal.net
diet-book.co.uk - $1,601.40
bloggitz.co.uk - $2,911.52
Both domain names are a year old and both are unused, I only realised the other day when i got an email from go daddy saying bloggitz.co.uk was renewed and like diet-book was sent to a dead link. Though i fixed the link for bloggitz i only just remembered diet-book. What should i do with these sites in everyone's opinions? They have a great domain age and they aint all that bad names. Hope for some great advice, Should i sell them or stick some money making scheme in their place?

well for a certainty dont believe those valuations,

diet book might be worth £xx but the other i'd let it drop, cant see any value in that at all

oh i know these valuations are not going to be knocking the nail on the head. Though i do believe the domain age could be valuable to someone

bloggitz = worthless = let it drop
diet-book = might get a couple of quid if your lucky.
Develop it into something with revenue and you will get more.

i thought personally these two domain names are SEO gold, As they have no SEO though they have a year age that could hugely benefit SEO possibilities? Either way what about monetizing the domain names and then applying SEO? I have read that domain age is favoured by search engines, i could be wrong though.

and how would you monitize the domains?

You need to consider (sorry execute SEO methods) to be able to monitize the domain or how else will someone find your site. no-one is going to type those domain names in directly

I did mention i would apply SEO to the site, i was just wondering what options are good for monetizing the site? As well as does domain age benefit SEO?

that age is not too bad? diet-book is out of the conversation for now as I need to find out what account i purchased this with

I have a domain over 5 years old but that aint nowt compared to some domains that been reg in the 90's, i believe domain age is only any use for long established and index'ed sites.

yeah i used to have hypokill.com but that expired without me knowing. I still haven't a clue what account i have registered diet-book. Though i will soon i hope. So domain age could have no benefit at all, it would be a shame to drop bloggitz as it only got renewed not too long ago and has till 9/30/2012 before next renewal

A year doesn't give much benefit, especially if it isn't indexed by the search engines.

hmmm, i don't mind putting in the time to get some SEO in place, but i think the real question at the moment is what should i get in place to save me time. For example domain parking.
