Hi , we are looking to get internet connection in our shop .. the problem is both BT and Virgin do a credit check on new business connections and both myself and my partner have a couple of old CCJ's .. does anyone know of a company that wouldn't do a credit check prior to installation ..? Thanks in advance guys :)

I doubt it, but could you not get a friend or family member to be the bill payer so the credit check is done on them instead? I don't suppose BT or Virgin care where the money comes from.

Obviously I stand to be corrected :)

You could consider getting a pay as you go mobile broadband dongle...... you can get some ok deals nowadays.....

Or maybe , if your renting the shop ...it can go in the owners name and they bill you ?

If you already have the line installed try a home adsl package.
Use an online search to see if they will connect to you line.

In the past we ordered adsl from O2 and they just connected it without question.
For some reason business means more cost and a home connection will do most of the time.

Have you pointed this out to them, and the potential adverse impact on your attitude to them at renewal time?

Why not get the CCJs cancelled - I am sure there is someone on here who could advise, then they will not come back to bite you again. ;)

Getting it 'cancelled' is not possible if it were obtained and proved to be in accordance with statute.

They can only apply to get it set aside and challenge it IF they did not run up the debt. Then they can apply to get their file updated if they win the case.

They can pay it off in full and get it to show SATISFIED but even in this instance it will remain on their CF for a period of 6 years.

As regards the query, I would either go down the home route or pay in advance. All mentioned above.

Hope that helps.

The phone line will usually be the snagging point for you because of the potential to build up high call charges.

Do you already have a phone line that you are looking to put ADSL on (or just broadband in Virgins case), or are you looking for a phone line as well?

Phone call charges can be capped at the push of a button and any amount up to that limit can be prepaid, effectively removing all risk. Not all providers allow this I know, presumably to deliberately catch spending which could otherwise have been avoided.

They may even be able to put in a line where no outgoing calls are allowed, making it 100% secure and then you simply prepay the full contract line rental.

That is true, we offer both options. But it is usually the thing that causes the credit check issues.

If blocking calls isn't an option because you want to use it, having a prepaid balance equal to the cap is usually possible (with the more flexible providers).

Tesco unlimited calls/text sim card for calls. If you have a smart phone most now act as an internet hub for the internet (wont be best but usable) 0845/local number/free phone numbers routed to your mobile: http://www.numbergroup.com/

Other than that you may have to pay the CCJ's and get a certificate of satisfaction to get them sorted on your credit file.

Good Luck.
