Hi
I am thinking of starting up a skip hire business , targeting the DIY'er and builder market . If you can picture the scene there is town A, village B and town C in a line like this .
A --- B --- C
I wonder if you could give me some opinions on marketing said firm . I have checked the web address's for said towns and both townA/Cskiphire.com/co.uk are available , so i plan to buy those up and get them re-directed to my site (not named as any town skip hire) as i am placed directly in the middle of them .
From researching google adwords there were circa 400 hits per town per month for the last 3 mths of checking at a cost of 1.20 per click (but if i had Town a/c skip hire and someone searched for skip hire Town A/C how would i fair in organic listings ? as i never click a paid link personally whilst searching ) . I guess im asking here how is it worth a PPC campaign v 800 search's directly for what im planning to offer in my immediate locallity bounced back to my site in my location between the two the 2 towns .
I also plan to advertise in the yellow pages for the time being , as well as local paper media (as imo both are a sunset way of advertising as more people get broadband) .
I've been reading about SEo and CRO , do the 2 go hand in hand ?
I prefer the idea of Conversion Rate Optimisation personally (nice easy follow through the site , nothing to impede potential customers say 100 may view but 10 may buy ) V Search Engine Optimasation (a million hits , but 2 customers) just my slant on how things look to an outsider looking in to it , any advice here more than welcomly recieved .
Finally , and this may let the cat amongst the pidgeons , would you display prices online ? or make them ring to ask . Personally I'm divided , I see drawbacks and advantages both ways . I feel if i go the CRO over SEO then I will have to display them . Hey im no Bill Gates tho .
thanks in advance
