Hi all,

I am unsure whether self-promotion is permitted on this forum, so if it is not then please ignore this message!

I am a freelance web and software developer with a great deal of experience in many areas including development of large scale ecommerce websites (one example is a site I am developing that is similar in theme to eBay).

I am also experienced with Google Maps API/geocoding, twitter API, development of site mailboxes, reading contacts from webmail contacts, CAPTCHAs, developed shopping carts and integrated them with payment gateways. I am able to generate search engine friendly URLs for website and shopping cart pages.

I have also developed secure intranet and control panels for websites including setup of SSL encryption. Developed access controlled portals for securing multiple backend databases with one login, with access restricted based on account privileges.

Community websites with forums have been developed by me from scratch (also experienced with integrating PHPBB). Integration of PHP based calendars for event scheduling and MediaWiki for integrated wiki pages.

I design and develop websites the "proper way", using clean (D)HTML/CSS that is cross browser compatible and use of Flash for several effects. Excellent PHP scripting knowledge used to develop template based websites. Capable of taking a PSD file from a designer and breaking it down into an optimised web template. Excellent javascript skills.

Experienced in developing front end user interfaces both for the web and for desktop applications in .NET, using various controls including Janus Winform Controls. Vast experience of backend software development using all of the following: MySQL, SQL Server 2005 and Oracle 10g. Skilled in the development of desktop applications and webservices using C# and VB.NET.

My education: Northumbria University in Newcastle upon Tyne, September 2000 to July 2004, Computing for Industry (BSc) and passed with 2-1 (honours)

It's not a full list. One of the sites I am working on is under a NDA, and as soon as that is lifted I can show more information on my online portfolio.

My development background is technical and a lot of my work I have not been able to show publically on my website for various reasons. Here is a list of developments that do not feature on my website portfolio:

Tombola Bingo (i:scratch)
I worked for Tombola Bingo (www.tombola.co.uk) and worked on the development of a new online game called i:scratch. It was a free to play flash game they you could play daily to try and win prizes. They replace their games very frequently which is why it is no longer on their website. Tombola were very pleased with the work that I did for them.

iDos Intranet

I developed (from scratch) a full intranet portal for Newcastle and Durham Diocese (Church of England).
  • Provides access to People Manager, Knowledge Base, Church Information and Web Management modules via a browser interface that can be used either on site or externally
  • SSL encryption used to secure remote access
  • Integrated with same backend database used for iDos Desktop
  • Friendly and familiar interface with a Windows XP theme
  • Developed using PHP, MySQL, HTML and Javascript
DataTrial (www.datatrial.com/index.php)
Development on Data and Business layers for a .NET application intended for management of clinical trial data.
  • Design (UML - use case diagrams, class diagrams, deployment diagrams)
  • System coding
  • Unit testing using Visual Studio Team System 2008
Cerres Limited (www.cerres.com)

After 3 months was given an excellent opportunity of becoming part of the MACH 2.5 development team. The frontend of the MACH system is web based HTML/CSS/JavaScript/AJAX and the backend is Oracle PL/SQL.
  • Support of the existing MACH 2 system (bug fixes and development of additional features)
  • Involvement in the design of MACH 2.5
  • Development of MACH 2.5 with project based team support and communication
  • Daily use of ScrumWorks, which is based on AGILE development methodology
