Forum Signature Links

I use lots of different forums for all kind of things, I've not got a link to my site on any of my user profiles because then I'd have to be mindful of what I say and that.

But I'm not saying anything that controversial or anything, so should I consider putting a link with keywords on the sig of all the forums I use? My current backlinks are mainly directories, facebook and lots of yahoo answers.

I checked the backlinks of my highest ranking competitor, and they have 1000's of links from a sig in an unrelated forum.

If it's relevant then do it. You wouldn't miss an opportunity to market yourself like this in the real world so why is it different online?

Oh and BTW, do it for the traffic and not for the ranks.

Before joining any old forum, assess the page rank and what it may be able to do for your website. Then I would judge whether it can be effective.

If possible, be in forums and directories which bear relevance to your industry / marketplace.

There's nothing wrong at all with using signature links, but do be advised that the value is most likely to be in the human traffic who uses them, rather than SEO link value.

forum links are great thing for getting rank high but it is not all about the link building.

You should choose more techniques to get better rank.

Probably that may be the reason that most of the senior posters in ukbf are still having their links in the signature using a free membership...:)
You can use signature in every forums, until and unless you are not spamming the forum with fake posts just to increase the visibility of your signature.

I'd say go for it :)

The direct traffic alone is worth it in most cases and there is some SEO benefit as a bonus also.

90% of my marketing is done on forums and I have had good results in Google from signature links alone.

Na, its just sheep following sheep..... doesn't mean a thing and it just shows how misinformation spreads about the web.

How many people still use Yellow Pages paper directory? their STILL convinced its worth the £8k a year over superior web advertising methods.

Too many superior links to be had elsewhere
Depends on the forum, the person and the services offered. The UKBF signature links generates a lot of new business for me and many others, well worth the £40.

Links are not all about SEO, the very best of them are good lead generators.

When it's about forum signatures, people usually talk about SEO relevance but forget to say it's a good way to promote your site after all.
Simply, visitors like to click on signature links

Just to let you know, when you join any forums, just have a look at the page rank of that page and site reputation as well,

the topic, which you are posting on in real time or not means how old is that. it really matters a lot, definietly forums glance to your website, somehow these sites drive traffic in term of business.

Thanks

forum sigatures do help your serps but not to be used as your single source of backlinks if you want to improve serps. Obviously if your signature is relevant to a thread or the forum you should pick up some direct traffic and hopefully sales
