FBML is no Longer Valid to create Facebook Pages?

Hello guys,

I just received an email from one of my friend saying that Facebook is going to remove the FBML from 11th March 2011. Is this true? In that case what will happen to the pages that are created on FBML?? And what exactly is iFrame?? Same as FBML? Can we use it just like any other application to customize pages?

I could find that websites like http://www.facebookmaxed.com seems to be offering iframe tutorials and templates but anybody has got a clear idea on iframes?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I can't find anything in the Facebook Help Centre that says this is the case.

An iframe is a webpage running within a webpage, in essence.

You can see an example -- we have a page on our website which the BRX webside embeds within a page on theirs using <iframe>.

Facebook uses this to show features from their website on yours and it should be possible to do it the other way round to.

The iframe tag enables you to specify the source, dimensions on the page and other stuff.

Yes, this is true - the app will no longer be installable on Facebook pages.

In that case what will happen to the pages that are created on FBML??

Existing FBML app tabs will remain in place and continue to be editable.

We are busy today creating FBML pages on several client sites, then hiding the tabs until we have time to develop.

A link to somewhere on Facebook where this is detailed along with alternatives for customising Pages would be useful.

Cool that's really helpful. Please include some information on developing pages with iFrame if possible. And as the guys confirmed above - 11th march is the end of FBML but I hope there wont be much difference between both.. The coding part looks so similar.

Part of my business is designing Facebook pages for businesses - this is ABSOLUTELY TRUE - no more FBML. Old fbml apps will still work, but everything new must be done in iframes.

This is actually a good thing, in my opinion, as it gives us much greater flexibility. There is some extra coding needed to get some things achieved, but overall I am actually happy to see the change.

Wow..that'd definitely be helpful for all. I think you can still post the url removing the http:// part.. would be useful for the other members too..

You can use a site called lujure .com (space added before . ) this is a hosted alternative and drag and drop easy

No harm to the pages created in FBML and they will remain as before instead you will have better features to edit them.

Yeah, the pages designed in FBML still works. But I'm trying to redevelop them to iFrame to add more features and functionalities. Since the code is hosted outside FB it seems more customizable just like a regular web page.
