We are at the start of long and interesting journey (pun intended)
Us oldie-petrol heads will never really be part of it. Amusingly, many of the people trying to sell us EVs also don't get it, and are as much dinosaurs as we are in their own way. The whole EV vs ICE thing is just a small detail of the change
Abridged version - car loving, enthusiastic drivers will never really appreciate EVs.we may experiment or might be swayed be social concerns or incentives - history shows that environmental concerns take a poor third place to price and convenience.
Even if we buy an EV, we will always compare, and our driving/ownership habits won't change.
Today's 25 year old will be far more fluid in their choice. Choosing between EV or ICE will be like choosing between BMW or Audi. They are already less hung up on car ownership than we are. In cities, may won't own a car but will use ZipCar
Today's 12 year old will be horrified at the thought of exhaust emissions. The idea of car as status symbol on the driveway will be completely alien to most. Access and utilisation will be more important than ownership.
This is already happening I will enjoy being an ICE dinosaur whilst watching with interest
