Ebay, how to improve sales? I need your help!

Hi there,
I need any help you could give me on this subject.

It's been almost two weeks since, we are not selling much on our Ebay Shop....would you please tell me (in case you know) anything I can do to improve sales?

There are quite a few things it could be...

• Do your ebay listings look good and professional?
• Do you have good seller feedback?
• Are you listing with "Buy it Now" rather than auctions?
• Does the photography (especially the thumbnail) look good?

Hi Patricia,

It may be that you simply need to update the store. Looking at this item http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/X-Mas-Dea...Desktops_CV&hash=item19cbed0528#ht_899wt_1139 it appears to be a Christmas promotion...in May. This tells prospective customers that a)the item hasn't sold for five months and b)you don't update your store.

The other observation I would make is that it looks a bit disjointed. For example on http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Apple-Mac...Networking&hash=item1c20013d64#ht_1854wt_1396 you can see about a dozen different fonts and sizes whereas the products you are trying to sell are Apple, famous for it's simplicity (and single font...). You may want to think about styling the pages with a clean minimalist look and keeping a consistent font.

Research on what your competitors are doing
What price they have, policy, packaging, postage, delivery time.

Keep up with them.

I agree with Aqueous, keep it plain and simple, the product should be the focus and its benefits, in plain simple text and fonts.

Keep the title catchy but simple- cant read with two ::

What can you do to improve sales?

Be realistic and realise in we are in recession, it's been going on for years and people have stopped spending money. Add to this everyone and their dog (you included, which makes the point somewhat) think they can make money selling on ebay and you have increasing competition day on day.

It's only going to worse, particularly on sites like ebay as more people set up "businesses" from home trying to get rich quick.

Sit back and have a dose of reality and see if you can come up with an original idea maybe, flogging Apple products is a mugs game - unless you are Apple.

First simplify your listing and make it more attractive, dont have black in the background have white. List things attractively not in Times new roman, some better pictures as well. What entices people to your product when they search is the picture. Talking of searching have you changed your ebay keywords if not change them this will drive traffic from both search engines and ebay itself.
So start of with two things

- Redo the listings and make sure they are all coherent and attractive (not times new roman maybe verdana)
- Get better pictures
- Change your keywords

The thing that work for me are good titles with keywords and lots of good info in the description not just whatever you copied from the supplier. Good clear images too.

I always replicate my listing, not that I've done any recently, on website using ebay affiliate network

Good titles, professional listings, good descriptions and photos.

If they've dropped all of a sudden, check your items on eBay to see if a new seller has popped up selling cheaper than you.

You desperately need to get someone to professionally re write your listings, phrases such as:

"with the 7 days of buy and postage to be pay by buyer" (returns policy)

"This a pre-owned Mac, it havea minor marcs on the case" (listing description)

"with 7 to 10 days in hes original condition / Buyers pay pfor the return postage" (return policy)

would make most buyers run a mile....................

Also your pictures need work.........
One shows a new item with the screen when your selling a used tower on it's own (for example)? You need good, clear pictures of the item your actually selling preferably on a white background (you can make a cheap photo booth using net curtains or similar).

Also, are you an authorised Apple reseller and if so can you use 'Apple' in your business name (I thought Apple took a dim view of computer business's using their name and logo?)?
