Dormant Company Forms

Hello,
i have a quick question, hopefully someone can help me.
Can you set up your company as dormant? i been on companies house and whilst setting up a business i notice it gives you tho option to state you don't plan on to start trading and you can also state that you will not be receiving any significant transactions. If i have selected i don't plan to start trading yet and also not receiving any significant transactions does this mean the company will be registered as a dormant company or must i still inform the HMRC?
also as a side question , will i still have to submit annual forms to companies house? if so which forms and are they easy to publish for a dormant company? Also what expenses would i be expected to pay for holding a dormant company?

You do need to inform HMRC that the company is dormant.

You do need to file accounts and a confirmation statement each year. The confirmation statement costs £13 to file. This is one method of filing accounts is this form.
