Domain name registration ???

Do I have to put my full name and address on my Domain name registration so that anyone can use domaintools to see where I work (From home).

Could I at least change the name to the business name even if I have to keep the address.

This domain is business not personal use.

if it's a .com you can pay about £5 a year to hide the whois data, with co.uk names theres no way to do this i dont think, i can't see a problem with you registering in the name of the business, give it a go and see if it works

If you use www.domainmonster.com to register your domain then you can hide your personal details for free.

However if you are trading from the domain you must by law have your trading address on the site and in the domain registration details.

Fisicx is right. It is also important to make sure your company details are contained in the footer of any company sent emails.

The amount of red tape that is about is unbelievable.

So can we assume that you are suggesting that the OP knowingly breaks the law? Great advice.... not!

No but it only takes one disgruntled customer to make a complaint, the site gets taken down and trading standards start asking awkward questions.

In any case, it all about trust. Two sites selling the same product at about the same price. One has full contact details and the other is anonymous. Which one would you buy from?

For UK domains it also against Nominet's terms to hide the WHOIS information. They are really starting to crack down on this to the point where they will/could actually take the domain off you if you don't comply.

Think website online one day, poof it's gone the next...

As already pointed out, although possible it is:

a) A bad idea and
b) Breaches Nominet's terms if the domain is used for a business.

Nominet have indeed suspended domains on our tag which they've found to have incorrect details. It's rare, but it happens.

It was particularly nasty one time when the domain was used to provide DNS services for hundreds of sites! (Nothing to do with our hosting!) In fairness Nominet did send at least one e-mail to the registrant and they didn't reply in time.
