This is me as an artist. My format is pop music. It has a double meaning behind it.

http:/ /img689.imageshack.us/img689/3104/popmusicofficial.jpg

It's not that I don't like it, it just doesn't really do anything for me! What is a promo for?

for magazines and the press kit.

Pop stands for pop the genre but pop is also slang for shooting someone.
I pop pop music. that's why there is a gun. it means that my music will pop you . it will pop all other pop away.

I thought the letters on Pop were too big and detracted from the image. You might have achieved an interesting effect if your guitar 'gun' were pointing at fragmented letters reading POP as though you had just fired the gun.

I'd also experiment with losing the word music underneath. Surplus to requirements?

You could get a bit more with it OP by posting the imageshack url in the 'insert link' icon on the top panel the round one 3rd from the right. The pic would then appear on the thread although it seems the image has gone.

In any event. The connection between pop and guns is in exrtemely poor taste even amongset the trendy these days because the number of shootings in our major cities ain't bloody funny.

Wow get positive pal. First of all , you with more than 3K of posts should know that I can't post any pictures or links unless I made more than 15 posts. That's why the link is splitted.

Second of all , I can deal with criticism but you forgot one important fact ... this is entertainment. This is a part of the character , this is my alter-ego. A gun with lights don't necessarily means violence . Solving shootings in the major cities is up to the government. I , I bring entertainment and this is pure fiction. I want to bring the public the eye and ear-candy which we have been missing in the past decade. A predictable response is a joke about my socks ,white hair or silver teeth but then again ... it just would show how narrow-minded you are .

OP - "OEE" may not be everyone's cup of tea/coffee, but he's raising - in his own inimitable style! - a serious question!

The link between guns and entertainment DOES mean violence to a lot of people... "Mothers against Guns" and "Mothers against Violence" being easily found on google (I managed it 2 secs!)... think about it - is that the image you want to project?

Also from my POV - have you looked through all of OEE's 3k+ posts? If not, you might want to rethink that "narrow minded" comment... OEE may not say what people want to here - but he DOES call it like he sees it... and the averages are on HIS side...

No-one has to take on board everything said on here - but some people have stayed around for a long time FOR A REASON...

Don't get me wrong here - OEE and I aren't clones or owt, and I don't agree with everything he says - but that doesn't mean I'll dismiss him (or anyone) out of hand... give it some thought...

The old cliche... "Truth is not kind, nor cruel - it is, merely, truth"

[someone get me off this soapbox!] - sorry OP:redface:

Sorry, I know I made a suggestion as to the presentation, but I'm with Old Eagle Eye on this too. Why do we need even the most tenuous link between pop music with any kind of violence?

Weren't the greatest music concepts of all time about violence?

Michael Jackson Thriller and Smooth Criminal
Madonna - Like a prayer ( woman get raped )
tons of other examples ... I don't get why people are complaining about it . Know your history before you come and judge the concept. Been around yes you might been around for 4 years so what? This is not an ordinary question.
How many musicians come on this board and ask for feedback on an image ?

There is a difference between works of art that reflect experience and works of 'art' that merely glorify violence.

It is like trying to compare any work by Michael Jackson against Wilfred Owen's use of the quote Dulce et Decorum est Pro patria mori.

Not the usual sort of discussion one might see in a business forum, however.

The problem right here is and I'll say it again ... you just saw a small piece of the package. You cannot make up out of one picture that I glorify violence.
Without hearing the lyrics , the biography and the music video, which will be released very soon ) it really is ignorant of you to make a judgement like that. Let me use a quote "don't judge an artist by it's promotional picture"
I didn't ask for any context that you think would fit with the picture.

Hm. I thought the picture I saw did suggest glorifying violence.

But i made a suggestion which would have made it even more graphic, which makes my pedestal look decidedly unsafe.

Best climb down from it now, I reckon.

Well you are certainly racking the posts up and showing unbelievable arrogance and conceit with every post because if that graphic is an example of your 'talent' you young man are going nowhere fast. It is so dated the ray gun is more 1960's Dan Dare comics than X box.

Second of all , I can deal with criticism but you forgot one important fact ... this is entertainment. This is a part of the character , this is my alter-ego. A gun with lights don't necessarily means violence . Solving shootings in the major cities is up to the government.

The fact is OP that you can't deal with criticism and if that graphic is how you see you your alter ego in the mirror I have a great deal of sympathy for you. All those zits as a young teenager I guess.

As for the government solving the problem of shootings. They have failed miserably and always will when it comes to crime on the streets. As in Belfast it will be the community that will rise up against the violence.

What entertainment and if you think that graphic is eye candy take a walk around Covent Garden. You might try a bit of busking too. Don't worry about a licence. I doubt anyone would notice you.

As for my being narrow minded. The reason I know that your look is oh so out-dated is that my generation grew up in the 1960's. The times wannabe's like you can only dream of.

The days of protest against the Vietnam war which brought the weed to the west. The times of flower power - chilling out and free love man. The days of the Stones - the Who and yes the Beatles. John Lennon and embracing the concept of Zen.

By those standards your trying to bring back break dancing by wearing a 25 year old cap and a pair of ex army socks seems to me pretty boring.

Nevertheless - I wish you good luck. Break a leg and you might want to turn that ray gun on to the chip on your shoulder. Fry it and eat it.

BTW , old man . stop hyping up the 60's and 70's . There was a lot of great music made around that time but that doesn't mean you had a lot fun during that era. There was no internet that means no UKbusinessforums.co.uk where you could hate on everybody . What did you do with your spare time back then next to not getting any attention of the girls ? Writing angry letters to the government about how irritating all those flower power colors were to you ?
Don't even waiste your time on me . Do something positive man . It's not healthy to get yourself so upset about an ignorant perception of one image .
I want to use this moment to thank everyone who contributed to my question in a way that made sense. I wish everyone on this forum the best of luck with their businesses and life.

Thanks again for responding :)

No fun. No girls. You got to be kidding. At 21 I had my own school of motoring then and most of my pupils were young girls in mini-skirts. Eat your heart out.:D

BTW. I got black hair and just as much as when I was 16 and unlike you OLD MAN. I don't wear wooly socks.:D:cool:

You really are a spanner.

Apart from insulting a respected member of the forums you did say:
Second of all , I can deal with criticism but you forgot one important fact ... this is entertainment. This is a part of the character , this is my alter-ego. A gun with lights don't necessarily means violence .
But you also said:
Pop stands for pop the genre but pop is also slang for shooting someone.
The picture looks like a mashup between a Jersey Shore guido and an 80's singer (a bit of a male Sheena Easton).

If you come on a forum asking for opinions then don't be surprised when you get a drubbing - deal with it instead of throwing out the teddy bear.

The OP put a space in the URL where there shouldn't have been one. Here you go-
http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/3104/popmusicofficial.jpg

Personally, it didn't register immediately that that was a gun, not sure that was the intended effect...

Ah thanks.

I think the pic is hilarious

I am assuming one is selling 'spoof' type music - a spoof of 'Fame' (I derived this from the leg warmers and bad hair) with a gangster rap edge?

If this is what you're selling...then fabulous, darling.

Meanwhile...Having re-read the thread

You are apparantly meant to be serious? Pop music that pops..

Hmmmm, tis cheesy, very cheesy.
