Cubecart & Seo

Hey guys, ok ive been trying to get my hands on this SEO mod for months now since i launched my cubecart 3 shop, but the site has been down constantly i dont know if its gone for good.

Does anyone have a link to it where i can download it, i assume its free?

If anyone has any other input into cubecart 3 and seo it would be most appreciated as always.

Also why build using CC3 when 4 has a long standing stable development period (over 3 years) and 5 is imminant as 3 & 4are not under end of life warnings.

Im not sure but everyone goes on about it and even those who are using cubecart 4.

Cubecart 3 was all that was available on my host and i didnt know how to install it then.

Im wondering is there a quick way for me to save the product catalogue as i dont know if i could hack adding all them again and is it quick enough to install, skin and get the products back on that it would be minimal downtime?

If you are using a vanilla CC3 install then you could install CC4 and point it at the database you used before, or export and import using myphpadmin or similar.

There are lots of guides on upgrading CC3 to 4 out there but i honestly wouldnt start with 3, its very old now and full of security flaws.

I have one of the SEO mods on my store and i turned it back off as it caused more trouble than its worth!!

Thats the SEO mod we have, didnt like it, didnt work well for us at all as our store is heavily customised.

I use the seo mod you've mentioned on a CC3 store, it works great for me although if you go for CC4 then the features of that CC3 SEO mod are largely built into the base functionality of CC4.

Upgrading from CC3 to CC4 isn't completely straight forward, we've looked at upgrading but have made the decision to wait and see if we can go straight from CC3 to CC5 once it's fully released.

If you move to CC4 it's only going to be a matter of time before you'll want to go to CC5 as end of life announcements have already been made for CC4 as well as CC3.

If you're starting from scratch now, as others have said, it doesn't make sense to start with CC3. Probably you're best option is roll out CC4, try not to mod it too heavily in the hope of being able to upgrade to CC5 more easily in the future.

I presume this module just makes your URLs SEO friendly, lets you manage each pages Title and Meta Description tag?

In which case that on it's own is not going to increase your rankings significantly unless your keywords are incerdibly uncompetitive. like 'Clacton Grave Diggers and professional landscapers'

If you have a large store it can cause massive slow down because of the amount of database queries it does.

We used to use this a few years back and started experiencing very slow load times on our site. It turned out that on our homepage alone the seo mod was running over 200 database queries to rewrite the links.
