Hello all

I'm thinking of starting up a business from my office personalising chocolates. The ones I'm referring to are the square small ones used at weddings at hotels or other special occasions which come in a variety of wrapper colours and have different messages written. I've attached a photo of the ones I'm referring to and by the way I'm In the U.K. Trouble is I can't seem to find out how they're printed. Do you require a special machine or printer for that? I know there are ways for doing it at home but that doesn't look professional. Any help would be appreciated thanks

Thanks for the reply. Sorry I don't think I've explained what I intend to do throughly enough. What I would be looking to do is purchase the ready made square thin wedding chocolates and only add a personalised wrapper to them. Would this also require health and safety inspection? Also what kind of printer or machine would be required?

From how I am reading your description, you are adding your own wrapping to the chocolate - so, I assume you are going to be handling unwrapped chocolate, which would therefore definitely require a health and safety inspection of your premises.

Another consideration is that many promotional products firms already offer personalised chocolates, as well as champagne, confectionery, etc. What would make yours different to others?

With regard to the printer - you may find you can actually buy "wrapper paper" that will work in standard printers.

Thanks what I was thinking of was buying the actual wrapped chocolates; they already have a metallic wrapper on them and an additional wrapper with the message is added on them.

What we are hoping would make it different is the availability. There are no suppliers locally who offer this although there is a demand so I'm hoping that's a market for us.

The wrappers would have gold ink printed on there. Is that possible in standard printers?

A laser printer and adhesive label printer will probably be okay. Would need to check on different qualities to make sure you have a decent standard. I know love hearts are a popular one for branding but not sure if there is any comeback.
