Contacting china manufacture

I'm having a product sample created from a manufacture in China and they said it takes 7-10 working days to make from the 5th Jan. I've been reading up on China business culture and I just wanted to know would sending an email for an update be rude and show a lack of patience or would it be fine to send a follow up email on Thursday 19th

I would suggest to send an email today asking if the sample will be ready and shipped before they close for China New Year holidays, as most will be closing this week.

The factory need to tell you the status of the samples if they can not finish it on time. It's better to follow up when it's not finished as scheduled.

You might wanna drop a message as for Chinese culture they might feel to embarrassed keeping up their side of the deal.

Most of business people in trade industry are professional and used to western culture, so, sending a follow-up email is totally fine. I will feel good as the email reminds me.
