Hi all,

I am currently doing my own SEO.

When using the software RankTracker and double checking this when googling the keywords myself, i was happy to learn the keywords appeared on page one.

However when i went out of the city, when i googled the same keywords it was nowhere to be found.

I have also checked this on my colleagues PC in the office which has the same results on page one.

Also when targeting another area. The keyword ABC in London (for example) is showing on page one when viewing it in the office, but than not when im searching for it in London? Why is this?

Thanks

Ali

It's because Google knows who you are in the office but not out of the city. It's quite common and nothing to stress over. It also depends on the device you are using, the time of day, what google services you are logged into, the OS, the location and if you have made the same search before.

Don't bother with rank tracker, it usually hopelessly inaccurate.

Oh dear. There is me thinking i was getting great results. :P
Could you recomend a software (ideally with a demo first or trial). I need something to take this into account rather than me travelling out of the city or using someone elses pc to see if i am getting good results.

Thanks

I've found the SerpMOJO app to be very accurate on the rankings of my sites. I think it's only available for Andoid last time I looked. You can find it on the Google Play Store.

Third recommendation for Serpfox and you can start from only £6 per month.
However I suspect the OP has no intention of paying for anything.

I had a go with serpfox but it only helped as a general guide, I could never replicate the actual ranking across all platforms and location. Or maybe I was using it wrong.

This may be out of your price range but I like Advanced Web Ranking.

I think the cloud solution is great.

Costs about £30 a month to track 2000 odd keywords.

Prorankchecker gives good results too. Or visit every Pc world in the country and check on their computers.

"Hi can I help you with anything?". No just checking my SERPS, please leave me alone.

Log-off of your Google account when you are checking rankings, or even better use incognito mode. Also if the business is local, Google tends to give different results based on your location.
