Computer Repair Business Insurance

So I need to sort out some insurance for my PC Repair business. I am a sole trader and am only doing it to earn abit of cash at the moment. In my opinion there has never really been enough work to justify doing it full time.

When I spoke to my current residential insurance. They said that running a PC Repair business from home would invalidate the insurance policy.

In the past I have nearly been caught out with the wrong insurance. So want to make sure I have the correct insurance.

I need it to cover everything in my house including when I take my laptop to customers homes or on holiday.

I also sometimes rent out the house on AirBNB so it needs to cover that.
I have done some searching on this forum before I posted. And I have already PM "Frank the Insurance Guy" & apparently these guys are good https://www.tradesmansaver.co.uk/computer-repair-insurance/ can anyone recommend anyone ?

    Hi @pchealer ,

Thanks for your PM and as per my reply, happy to look at a quote for you.

There are 2 seperate things here:
    1. Your own business insurance
    2. Your brothers home insurance

You and your brother need to sort out your own insurance policies (you cannot insure you brothers home/AirBNB business and they cannot insures your business).

Are you even allowed to run a business from your home?

As someone who has been in much the same situation, it's vital you deal with a proper broker.

This is not something you can go to any old consumer type insurance company about. Just do not deal with the typical home insurance company.
The only person who can help you properly with this is a good broker who is experienced in both residential and business insurance.
