Hello

Im plan to registry with company house my company name.
but looks someone have the very similar name..
this is a example and not the name i want.

one company have their name on company house as " 1234 limited " and i want to register my company as " O 1234 LTD " add one O me and the company will be a different product and service.

but when i check if is avalible on

1stformations .co.uk or wck2 companieshouse gov uk//wcframe?name=accessCompanyInfo
say it is free to register.


can i resgister my company or i will have any problems in future ?



also what makes me confuse is on google maps i can see a shop with some name i want to my shop too " O 1234 " i just can see the name on hes shop signage, i give a check on company house and is nothing there, i mean link to that business. Maybe them trade as sole trade.

so my second question is will i have problem to register my company as " o 1234 LTD " as this person have " O 1234 " on hes signage, and we both will run some products and services

When you choose a company name for a ltd, you are not allowed to have the same name as another registered company's name. What you want to do is to add one letter to a name that a company has already registered. If you register this name and the company makes a complaint, you may have to change the company name. Then all your efforts in building a brand awareness around your brand will be in vain. I would advise you to choose a unique name.

Yes you you should think of other names as Tom has suggested. Be unique and don't follow the crowd

I wouldn't say that it wouldn't be a problem. If the company with the name "abcd" complains that your business name is too similar, you might have to change your business name. Keep this in mind.

In my opinion, the idea of Tom is great. you should choose a company name that is match with your business type. Moreover, the name should be unique in order to your partners, your customers can be aware of this easily. This is just my idea. If wrong, hope u can skip it. Because my idea is prefer unique thing than other factors. Name of company have presented your business, so we must choose carefully and exactly. if we choose wrong, rebranding is very long to make customers remember.
