We are very close to finalising the design of a small ( 200mm x 100mm) metal component made from 1.2mm steel sheet. This has various small holes and raised tabs.

Now looking for recommendations on how to produce these and debating whether to use laser cutting or CNC punch.

Requirement is for a small initial batch of 15 for testing over, several weeks, followed hopefully by mass production.

So we are looking for the most cost effective way of making these 15 units . DWG CAD drawings exist.

Any keen metal bashers out there would could offer advice and contacts in the manufacturing sector?

Most local tin bashing workshops can knock up your prototypes. The one near us uses a water cutter. all they need are the drawings, let them decide the best way to do things.

Mass production is a whole different ball game and needs a lot of discussions.

For 15 off it’ll be worth laser cutting. The cost savings of punching are negligible compared to setup costs try a service like fractory instant quotes just upload drawing

For actual production punching would be the way to go if you’ve got 1000+ you could stamp that from coil in a progressive tool but you’ll then have tooling costs and maintenance to pay for.

When it goes to mass production the order quantities would be between 5,000 and 15,000. On top would be exports.
There are various barriers to entry including, but not the least of which is, the initial tooling but get that right then it all work out.

Because of the security certification of the website, it took me a long time to modify my reply to such a product,
    1. Use laser to open blanks and punch holes,
    2. Convex hull: through hand-drawn positioning marks + simple punching die
Adjust the processing sequence, there will be more suitable. The fitter can do it
