chosing a name for selling rare......

hi,

my plan is to buy and sell rare and what is now very collectable films. its a small market but its just something i am personaly into and it will be a good way to build up freinds with others who collect films.

some of the films i have i may have paid £60 odd pound for and some other sites have a certain film i have for sale for £360 to £400 and i paid £90 for my copy so the profit is good but quantity is not but its something i want to do anyway as i can also build up a social network at the same time.


what sort of name could i buy as a domain that says i am selling rare movies, i would also be wanting to buy of other people to build up my collection?

how can i attract people to my site?

how can i get my site seen?

these are all the sort of questions flying around in my head

feedback would be great, but i dont need to be told i am going into something that wont make me lotts of money as i know that and like i said its something i am into myself, thanks for reading

Are they old films? Perhaps incorporate a word in your name that clearly says you deal in films, but use an old word -- something like Celluloid or Motion Pictures. Not necessarily those words, as they aren't particularly catchy, but you probably know a lot of such words as you are a film buff.

Or have a pun on a film genre eg Film Noir et Blanc or Film BlancNoir, although the pun depends on people understanding French.

In regards to generating awareness for your business, a cool little blog about the films would work quite well. You could watch each of the films again to refresh yourself (only if you need to that is) and then talk about some of the scenes and characters etc.

Also, there must be quite a few rare film forums and other blogs you could start to engage with. Use twitter and Facebook to start up conversations about the films.

If you search this forum for 'Social Media' you will find some really handy tips and ideas on how you can promote your site in the right places!

Seems the biggest forum in this sector is Silver Screen which has a forum too and I would suggest that you concentrate more on the format of the web site than worry aabout a domain name.

A forum for example can have sub sections and you will need that because there ain't no such thing as 'old' movies. Star Wars 1 is an old movie now. Cassablanca & Citizen Kane are 'Classics'.

BTW. When you say buy and sell old movies. What do you mean. A video. The cinema reels. I doubt it is the last because there are no projectors around to watch them on but the name for storing these is the Film Archive.

I also note that few make money from actually selling films. It's mostly old movie posters etc so you migh just have a niche maket.
