Just wanted to share my experience with SUMUP - the SOLO is a neat little box and work fine but ........

I have to say that I have experiencd appalling customer service from SUMUP - I bought my SOLO for an exhibition which happens once a year - I have a brand new unit which has been used for 4 hours max over 2 days in 2022 - I only need to use it once a year - I have gone to use it again this year, in 2023, and it's telling me I need to call in and that I will be sent a new one (see pic) - I have called in and am told it's over a year old and that I'll have to buy another one - seriously? Not to mention, it took me over 20 minutes to finally get through to someone in the first place and when I did he was unhepful and uncooperative. This unit has been sitting in it's box in a drawer un-used for the past year - it's pristine and unmarked and undamaged ....SUMUP can see frm my transactions that it has not ben used at all - There are other providers out there and with this sort of approach/response, SUMUP doesn't deserve my business so open to any suggestions .... my SOLO will be going in the bin - it is a Business Exhibition that I run by the way and I have recommended this product to many, many people over the past year or two, but emphatically never again .... I'm looking for an organisation that has some level of reasonable customer service and support - so any r3commendations appreciated

We have had ours for over two years and not needed a new one. It's been working great for us.

may well be anti tamper has been triggered. im not overly familiar with the specific devices but card machines can lock out if they detect they have been tampered with. Sometimes dropping them can trigger it. All stems back to the really early days of chip and pin when card skimming was happening in the card readers themselves.
Those things are low cost so they wont go to the effort of getting back, "fixing" and returning. If its out of warranty, got to get a new one.

So, you have a machine that you paid, what ? £30 for a year ago and not used for a year ? Now you're saying that the company who issued the machine don't 'deserve your business' ? You're probably right there. They don't deserve your business. Go to some other poor company who's employees will have to listen to your baseless whining.
