Car advertising

Hi,

Am thinking of getting some signage done for our car to promote our business. Does anyone have any figures or estimates as to how successful this actaully is. Not sure how I could measure this as a ROI...any ideas ?

There is a similar thread from a few days ago on car advertising which would be worth a read. You won't be able to accurately measure the effect as a ROI though but as the outlay is small it doesn't really matter.

I just use static cling banners in the rear windscreen and smaller ones in the back side windows, they cost hardly anything, don't damage my paint, can be removed, re-positioned and transferred to another car if need be in no time at all.

Before you put signs on your car make sure you let your insurance company know.

Putting signs on a car without cover for business use, means you could be totally uninsured. Even if you have business coverage you may not be insured to have signs on your car unless it is specifically mentioned. (The insurance companies don't like it because, it makes your car more attractive to the crooks because they will think there are tools/materials in your car and it also indicates you to the insurance company that you will be doing more business miles)

Best to check before you have an accident!!

I have my URL across my rear window, so does my wifes car, as does other relatives cars, I would not have thought there could have been any issues with this until reading the post by Excel Dragon. I'll check that out then.

This is an excellent way to advertise a website but make sure you have in place a way to find out where your responders found you. If you don't monitor your marketing and advertising you have no way of knowing what is working. As most people will go straight to your website, give them the opportunity to fill out a contact form with a 'where did you here from us' dropdown tab that lists the options.

We specialise in response monitoring and call recording for incoming sales enquiries in response to advertising campaigns such as this. You should try an 0845 or 0800 number allocated to specific activity as its so much easier to monitor the results.

hi vista print do small and large car magnets which you can design to suit they are pretty cheap and sometimes free where you just pay postage this could be a good way to start to see if it gets you any business.
i have got them on my car looks a bit naff but i can see lots of people looking so who knows.

I had my car professionally signwritten 2 years ago, as its only a 10 year old Tigra, and it is BIG lettering, it looks very eyecatching. I have had a lot of business from it, as I always ask how clients heard about me. I wouldn't advise it on an old tatty car, though, as the image may not be one you want to project to prospective customers! Mine is in mint condition, fortunately. It cost just £60, as I negotiated a cash deal with the signwriting company, with the understanding that they had a very small advert on my car also. It works for me, anyway. And I am insured for business use, as I understand it, if you don't do starship miles, and you don't carry much of value, you are OK.

My wife is my partner and we both have advertising on our cars. As a result both cars are, 24/7 over the year, advertising the business, what ever we are doing and where ever we are. As a result we have 100% of the cars expenditure as a business expense. Our accountant assures us that this is the most efficient way go in terms of tax. I am aware that there are other options.

Tip - place a "Please Take A Card" (Under wording have large arrow pointing down to wiper - Laminate on A4) sign in back window of car when parking and pop some of your business cards under rear windscreen wiper - you will get a trickle of cards going out to potential customers. Laminate your Business Cards so you can do this in wet weather (our summer!)
