Yes, nowadays the software market offers an extensive choice of tools for ranking check: free and paid, basic and advanced, desktop-based and online. So you can easily pick up the app that better suits your needs.
Say, if you just need to check the current positions of your website, you may use such free rank tracking apps as serps.com, rank checker (by SEOboook), cute rank, the free version of rank tracker (by link-assistant.com), etc.
In case you need to get more detailed ranking stats, (for example, your site rankings fluctuation for a certain period, competition rankings analysis, advanced ranking reports, and other), you will need to get more advanced tools.

The best way to check your ranking is to use Google search engine and be sure that you clear your cache history and log out those accounts before checking your Google rankings.

100% Semalt.com I use that tool and yes although there is controversy surrounding the the company in terms of referral traffic their software and pricing is nothing compared to SEMRush and Moz.com

Each data center has different results. So better get your rankings checked after you change the IP with an appropriate one for the location you want to verify the results. Log out Google, delete history and you may get some good results but not always 100% correct.

Rank tracker by seo power suite is pretty much the best one you can get, but it is expensive if your not in the business.

I use an Incognito window which I remove history from regularly to ensure my results aren't depending on recent search history. It's time consuming but it does seem to work. Maybe I'll look into some of these suggestions on here for a change!

None of the tools will ever give you accurate results. There are far too many variables involved. At best you can use then as a tool to look for trends buts that about it.
Do some testing with all the tools, if they were any good they would all proviude the same results as you swee when you do a search. They don't. Which tells you all you need to know about these tools.

I am using chrome, firefox and opera for work. and for checking ranking for website i use internet explorer. its providing me true results. its works for me so far

The simple and best way to check website's GOOGLE ranking is the manual just go to the google and check your ranking as per your keyword according to the region of GOOGLE do not trust on any kind of tool to check your keywords ranking only manual work can provide you satisfaction.

If you want page rank than just type page rank checker in Google and choose one and that will give you your PR. If you want to know where you appear on Google then you need whereamiongoogle.co.uk
