Best place for websites

Hello!
were is the best place to make a good website for a business.
i know of wix and moonfruit but im sure there is better website builders out there i just don't know were to look.
what would all you recommend?

Personally I use LCN and Wordpress

No idea if they are the 'best' - they certainly aren't the cheapest, but they do have an excellent helpline, which keeps me loyal.

Well, you can use a website builder like wix. It depends on what you plan on doing with the website and how far you want to go with it. Ignoring the fact that it is our business to build websites we would suggest getting some hosting and setting up a wordpress website. That way you will have scope to grow and do new things with it.

If you are going to really make use of a website then generally you will want to augment/ change it in some way at different stages and using something like Wordpress will allow you to do this. However, if it is just going to sit there then something like wix will probably work (we are not advocating Wix by the way, it's just an example).

Sound advice given here. Just add that you should always think through what exactly you want a website to do before setting one up. It's surprising how many people don't. In particular a website is a place to set out why your business is "special".

Best tends to be quite subjective.

Often what you want is not quite the same as what someone with a totally different business wants.

Can be useful to have multiple ways of getting customers. If you can handle the complexity.

I will recommend WordPress. WordPress can handle various authors, specific content types, and pretty much anything a user would anticipate from a CMS. WordPress is created for being simple to learn and practice. It's also got a sweet user interface. If your needs are straightforward, WordPress could be the most suitable choice.

I've no idea what all these people are talking about. Avoid Wordpress.

It's a pain in the ass, you need to keep updating it (and all themes and plugins you install), it is a major target for malware, bots, scammers.

It's so, so not for a beginner! You need to know what you're doing and need to take all kinds of steps to protect your site.

Depending on what you need the website to do you're probably better off using a static website created by a developer (or even using a template!) and avoid that Wordpress bloatware crap.

I know because I have numerous sites using Wordpress and also sites not using Wordpress. The latter are so much less hassle.

I no longer have numerous sites using Wordpress - only my personal blog.

Hosted wordpress.com is good, with them taking care of all the updates for you, and its cheap.

Don’t use plugins for layout. Use themes from Wordpress. Disable everything you don’t need. Get decent hosting. Use wordfence. Don’t use ‘admin’ as your username.

You forgot ...spend a few hours learning how to configure Wordfence properly and how to set it up on your site. Spend a few more hours (or days!) learning all about Wordpress and all the features before you can even begin working out what you "don't need" and disabling it. Then explore other plugins like backup plugins etc to get whatever other functionality you need on your site. Check that your forms work correctly, that they are protected against spammers and bots. Hit roadblocks like not knowing where to insert your analytics code and having to research bits and pieces like that.

Then spend several days learning settings on the frigging bloatware called Wordpress. Learn about slugs and configuring default page names and post names. Out of the box Wordpress will do all kinds of sh*t ...like letting people leave comments on your pages! You need to know all of this so you can take appropriate measures to make the site work the way you need it to work for you.

And after all that, there's probably something vital you missed!

OP, just go spend some money on a good developer and have them set everything up for you! I don't understand this mentality of scrimping when it comes to complicated stuff like websites. If you have to ask the question about what's a good builder ...you're not best placed to create your own website!
