I currently run a VPS, with about 25 (mainly Joomla) sites, which is:
1.1gb Ram + 1.75gb virtual
10gb drive (on a RAID 1 system)
250gb data transfer
Running on a quad core server with lots on RAM, via Xen
As I plan to add a lot more websites to the server (50+ in total?), primarily simple html or Joomla/CMS based, I want to beef things up and take the step to going to a dedicated server.
As a first step, I am looking at one of the following specs:
Option A
- Dual core 2.2ghz
- 4GB RAM
- 1x160GB HDDs
- 5000GB monthly transfer
- 100mbit port
Option B
- 1.6ghz Dual core Intel Atom
- 4GB RAM (3.5GB is addressable)
- 2x500GB HDDs
- 1000GB monthly transfer
- 10mbit port
I appreciate that there are pro's and con's on either (I am not interested in bigger/more powerful servers yet) - which spec would you recommend?
