My first question is why are they walking round london?, surely they should be local to were they live.

its not a grant, and if you think it will be free, I very much doubt it, if there are no terms and conditions I would be very suprised, maybe even a directors loan, and if you are already doing well, you don't need AS, so I don't understand why people with business already go on this progrma unless its not doing as well as they make out.

I really do wonder how some of these people get onto shows like this. I applied and got invited to London, but didn't get through and I am probably 10 times better than every single candidate on this series without an arrogant attitude

I love this show, but seriously 16 and some have 3 successful businesses.
You have the rest of your life to run a business, just enjoy being young.

I couldn't believe those girls couldn't work out the costings of the ingredients. They looked hopelessly lost. As AS said, they'd got Maths qualifications between them which surely should mean such a basic level of numeracy? It's not as if they didn't have a calculator (though I wouldn't say that would be an excuse either!). And then buying fruit by weight and forgetting about the waste from the peelings! (Yes, I know some peelings can also be used but that's another story).

i personall think the girls won becuase they had a better location, there is no way the boys could have charged what they had at their location, they might have been able to charge a little more but not alot.
The girls maths was a little scarey, the working about the costs, the attitude towards stock levels and amounts, but still looking forward to the next one.

Why are they always stuck up kids on the young apprentice?? Its trying to encourage more young people to start businesses, but i'm pretty sure no one wants to be like the candidates.
I could have done them sums for the stock easily. Most kids in my class could have.
I don't like the way the girls were making the ice cream for the kids, giving it to them, THEN telling the parents the price. In the long run, that would kill your customer service completely.
One more thing, the boys were in competition with other ice cream sellers, so couldn't choose their own price.

That's a point! No doubt the girls would have had competition, but they weren't in the immediate area. I know for a fact that there are loads of ice cream outlets up and down that sea front. Whether they priced it too high or too low, the boys would have lost..

After slagging off the people on the show a couple of years ago the wife said if you can do better do it. So to prove a point I spent all of 5 mins knocking together a quick CV (I have not had need for a CV for many years as I am self employed) and off it went.
I was invited to an interview and I suddenly though
bugger I never actually planned on doing it lol. As stated this is for TV so a) only the loudest will get on as it makes better TV b) They can edit it and make you look bad even if you are right but taken out of context. So all of 10 sec of thought and I politely declined the offer. Now if it wasnt televised I would have loved to have done it just to prove a point.

Everyone is talking as if this is a serious business proposition. These people didn't get chosen for their business skills, they got chosen because their deficiencies can make excellent TV. Boring, polite, dull and mathematical excellence would make boring TV!
They've selected a group of people with personality traits that will cause friction, wind people up and make the audience at home squirm.

Living in a country where young people are easily generalised as being lazy, binge drinking yobs in certain parts of the media, it is great that the BBC does the young apprentice.
Personally, I believe the candidates were very well selected, as almost every one of them is annoying in one way or another. I'd have liked to have seen the lad that went in week one with the gold watch stop on for a couple more weeks than he did, but it came across on the TV that he had a disgusting attitude.
Personally, I would like Harry M to win, he comes up with more ideas, has more creativity, doesn't do badly with his selling and is more enthusiastic than most of the others. He annoyed me in the early shows, but a couple of weeks ago, he sold a tree to somebody in a bar for quite a sum and stuck at it, from that point, I began to take him seriously.
Apart from Harry, Zara is the only other candidate with a chance of winning and is probably the one that will win the show. We must remember though, these are 16 and 17 year olds and they try, where's the fault in that?

I think they look for people who would be good on TV, not people who are good at business. I mean, come on, look at then deodorant cans. I could have gone into pound-land and found a better looking one. The adverts were pretty rubbish. I'm not going to walk into a shop and by one deodorant over the other because it makes you appeal to the opposite sex. (Hmm, I recognise that tactic from another major deodorant business...) I'll choose over price, size of bottle, and if it really stops you sweating and for how long.
Then on that programme, if you make a mistake, your fired. (Unless Alan Sugar likes you, clearly the case for Harry M).

Funny that, I think I remember Alan or Karren saying that the RAW deodorant would look good on the shelves, and I thought in my head, "Yes, in Poundland."
The products did look cheap, the adverts were basic in comparison to big brands with big budgets, but we must remember that they were given a couple of days to come up with an idea and Cheryl Cole wasn't present. Given I defend them on this, I'd have done a lot better within that time frame and wouldn't have tried to sell the product on looking good with the other sex, I don't think that works.
They'd have done much better with the design of the product if they'd have studied other product designs that are well established and taken aspects from them. The one with the mirror was shambolic.
