I'm currently selling only on ebay ( used electronics, mostly Camera equipment) ,but heard some users are also selling on amazon here. I really dislike amazon website as a buyer and never shop there due to how sneaky/borderline scam their website/operation is.
However I see the prices for the stuff I sell on ebay are a bit higher on amazon + their fees looks a bit smaller, so was kinda interested to list on both but got a few questions.
-I see the electronics category has 7% referral fee + £0.75 per item fee if you don't have subscription, which would be about 7.5-8% total from my sales. I currently pay 14% ebay/paypal fees so that's quite a difference. Is there any other fees payable? Like any payment processing fees like you pay to paypal? Or that's included in that 7% for that category?
-Are there any Seller protection on it like on ebay? I get quite a few scammers in the category and I cancel/refund straight away like every 1 out of 15 orders , In ebay I have never really been scammed before as a seller so far as I can spot the bastards a mile ahead and I'm very cautious, but in amazon there is basically no buyer feedback , anyone who buys is like a blank page with no purchase history.. What has been your experience? I'm dealing with a high-target expensive items so kinda worried.
-Also are there more scammers on ebay or amazon? I'm worried the most about people hacking other accounts and purchasing the stuff from hacked accounts, I get this several times a month with ebay, Luckily I have avoided them all so far.
-Do you need the items in super-good condition to sell on amazon? I bet like most of the people purchasing on amazon think they are purchasing from the company not individual sellers, Sometimes I get some Items with scratched screens/something not working, In ebay it's really no problem - You describe the item as it is and people can see the condition and still purchases your items+ they know very well they are purchasing from private individuals and that they are purchasing used items. What about amazon? I see you can upload there some pictures- but only in some terribly low resolution and even than they aren't really shown to the buyer straight away.. Very sneaky... What has been your experience?
-On which platform do you get more sales/higher prices from your experience?
-Which platform do you like better as a seller and why? I'm talking about only selling used items and shipping them myself as I would not trust amazon to package the stuff for me. With brand new items in new packaging and the amazon FBA I bet it's much better than ebay ,but with used stuff?
