another website review from a ebayer

Hi All

Had a few threads around so probably think, gawd him again

Anyway, ebay going well but dabbling on the big wide world.

Getting a good few impressions and clicks on adwords but just one sale to date although only been live under a week.

As my stock costs quite a bit from the manufacturer i dont have many ranges to put on my website but will build it up, but was wondering if you peeps could have a look to see if you think limited range is why people dont seem to buy as they might.

Its only a EKM template, as i cant afford a site made yet, but am open to suggestions on alternative carts

I expect Iwill get slated but will take it in good faith as i want to grow this but on ebay and website, but i do have a link back to the ebay shop just to show people im legit and not going to run off to another country with their money

Will do protx to if people think its beneficial?

Because it is such a specific product, the website comes across as a an unfinished website.

If you had the budget i would suggest of a nice flash site with some animations and demos of the product being used.

Maybe build a community, Upload some youtube videos of your product being used with ur websites url watermarked, Approach some bloggers and ask them if they would like to review and write an article on the produt.

theres quite a few ways to market any product cheaply, you just need to use your imagination.

Thanks for your feedback. Totally agree with the points you made.

Its budget which is limited, although I am thinking of getting a bank loan.

I only started selling on ebay to pay off debts, which is going slowly but fees are so high

Im not overkeen on the template which is why im still umming and erring

Salepack (.co.uk) have good designers , but is about £100 for their cart but done some good stuff. Would still take 5-6 months before i got to the same price of a basic bespoke site although the price is still high so didnt go there as yet

There are videos of Powerballs available so will look into incorporating them. Shame the EKM template doesnt let you do much. A main competitor is powerball-gyros com who are using a cart from the states. I was always led to believe united states carts aren't beneficial to us brits?

I think it would be worth having a forum on your website which users can post there own videos, there seems to be a small growing community for this product.

I think your site looks fine. I recommend that you add powerball to the title when you click on the categories.

I would question whether you needed an advanced shop like EKM for just a few products, you could have just gone for a normal web design and integrated your few products with an external cart like the PayPal shopping basket or Roman Cart, this would have given you more control over the look of your site if that's what you wanted.

If you still need an advanced shop with integrated basket, etc, our service is like EKMPowershop's service but we do allow more control over things like video and allow a lot more structure and pages outside of the shop section, e.g. www.instantmagictricks.com (website and shop) and www.kamstkd.com (website only, no shop).

I'm with Adam in recommending that you upload some videos to youtube, and use youtube as a way of attracting visitors to your site. As well as watermarking your url, in your youtube profile provide a link to your site.

A US cart certainly isn't beneficial to powerball-gyros. Since they are a .com and their site is hosted in the US, although they appear in the first page of a google 'web' search for powerball, they don't appear at all for a google 'pages in the UK' search.

Upload videos with your logo on them on the corner , can be added quite simple with any video editing software.

Aslo add your website url on your images which you use on ebay.

OP, are you powerball world on ebay? if so then we have spoken on the ebay forums! my id on there is amberandolly , so helloo! I will have a look at your site and you have a look at mine, let's compare notes. we are staffskite by the way, ( blown away kites and models on ebay). nice to speak to a fellow ebayer on a more "professional" forum, the ebay ones are a bit crazy sometimes.

 

The site looks ok mrjibbles. Glad to see you have got it sorted as I read a few of your threads heading this way...Once you get a few more products, etc onto it, it will help.

When I looked many of the items were 'awaiting delivery'. I would allow people to purchase them but mention an estimated delivery time. Then at least it gives the choice to the customer. People don't mind waiting if they know in advance how long they may have to wait.

Do you have any web stats that show the paths people take on your website, and the point at which they leave? It is very helpful to know eg if they are adding items to the basket but then leaving when they get to the 'register' page it might be a problem with having to register. (just as an example)

I think the ideas you've been given above are great. Additionally you could add customer comments/testimonials and pics of people using the balls and having fun.
Rather than saying "You do not need a Paypal account to buy from us. Simply scroll down on the payment screen for the alternative checkout" you could say something like "We accept credit and debit card payments, Paypal and xxx". Put it in a positive way rather than a negative angle if you know what I mean!
You can use paypal to accept credit and debit cards and the customer does not need to have an accoun t with paypal.

I think your email address would look more professional if it matched your domain name rather than a gmail account.

The powerballs look cool though and I wish you all the best

We love powerballs here. The team got two for xmas and they have since been whirring away constantly in the office (it's nice to see the developers getting some form of excercise).

On Protx I would always recomend their service to mid teir clients. Especially where you want to know what you are paying month on month. They have a great customer service and are one of our most proactive PSPs.
