So I have to coordinate. Is it hard to do or it straightforward? I just tell the freight forwarder to go to the port and collect the goods and take it from there?

Are you selling to buyers here who are paying VAT on the purchase?

I would be selling on Amazon US. I don't know what would happen if I get a UK customer buying from the US site.

I've already contacted Samuel Shapiro. I'm waiting for them to explain it. I've also contacted UPS recently but they're not much help.

SOME INFO ON amazon and tax. 200 sales is not a lot... personally i think if you go into business you should pay tax as required by the country you are trading in.

That is helpful to know. I didn't know they did that. I thought I'd have to be the go between.

So long as your turnover is low enough and not stocking in the UK as an overseas seller then its your choice.

I wonder if anyone can clear up some confusion.

To begin with I'm going to be fulfilling orders myself.

I have 5 samples of my product, but they are in packets with someone else's logo. So obviously I can't sell them like that, so I wonder if I can put them in poly bags. Is this ok?

I bought barcodes, but I've heard that if you're fulfilling yourself, you don't need to physically have a barcode on your product. If that's true then that's one less thing to worry about but I just want to double check. Do I need a barcode on the product or not?

Also I am listing on the US site, and when I created the listing (which is currently inactive) I used the UPC version of the barcode. Is this ok? What if I get a sale from outside N. America?

If you're the one sending the product out, you can do whatever you want. Bags, boxes, barcodes, no barcodes, whatever. There's no law that requires you to do anything except get it to the customer in one piece.

Just out of interest, and for future reference, if I was sending the products to Amazon for fulfilment, would I use UPC or EAN? I'm listing on the US site. Would I just give them the barcode number and they print them out and stick them on the product?

Also, if I can do whatever I like when fulfilling myself, does that mean I can create my own label to put on the front of the envelope (rather than use Amazon's), and do I need to bother printing out a packing slip?

My product is now listed on Amazon, since friday (26th May). Not surprisingly, I haven't had any sales yet.

Yesterday I changed the price from $14.97 + $4.99 shipping to $0.99 + $4.99 shipping. If anyone does a search for this product, even without specifying the category or adding additional search terms, and they search for low to high price (cheapest first), I'm on the first page. But still, no sales. I find that strange. I would have thought I'd get a sale by now.
