What rules would you give it?
Paul.
Paul, I didn't get or missed a notification for this, so apologies for the late response and I'm not sure it was worth the wait!
The reality is that the 'rules' are way beyond the scope of a forum post. I'm not referring to Ai chat tool rules per se, more that the technology itself (ChatGPT, Bard etc) needs legislation around them and their usage.
Ultimately it should be the the tech companies and creators of this software that need to ensure its not infringing copyright, stealing images/code, and making answers/copy up etc. There are also potential dangers and pitfalls for many existing companies and industries that need to be reviewed and taken into account.
In no other industry could you release something untested and uncontrolled into the wild that can cause massive problems. We are already seeing social media platforms and monopolies by tech companies that are causing issues in competitiveness of markets, government elections, plus fake news, fake ads and scams being spread.
Relying on companies to police the internet for their own ends, or copyright holders to track down misuses, plus blaming individuals for publishing on platforms owned by massive companies, or allowing corporations to be able to ride roughshod over governments and industries isn't a great way forward. Our 20th century rules and laws are often woefully unfit for 21st century tech.
