I've found Fiverr a good place to get website banners done. You just need to pay attention to the ratings.

Re the rest of your question, there are so many ways to build backlinks/drive traffic to your site it depends on what you feel will work for your market. But you could try:

Video marketing
Article marketing
Directory submissions
Social media
Social bookmarking
Document sharing
Web 2.0 sites like Hubpages or Squidoo
Blogging/guest blogging
Forum posting

Yes like Ali-v-8 said, you can get your own ones made, but you shouldnt just walk away from you ebay shop - as by default that should get more foot traffic through rather than a new ecommerce solution, so running both is important.

As for optimising your ebay shop. their are a few tricks you can do for these, but at the same time there are other things that it wont even allow you to do.

To get a banner made you could try using PeoplePerHour. It's an online service where you create a brief and say how much you are willing to pay for it. Then a number of designers will bid on the work and you can view each of their portfolios. You'd get a good deal that way.

Absolutely! If you've got an ebay shop turning a profit don't throw it away just because you set up your own site. You need as much exposure as possible. The chances are that your own site would take a while to get traffic. I don't think you were planning to close the ebay shop anyway where you?

Hi there,

You cant optimize an ebay shop like you can a website, you can 'polish' your ebay shop up in terms of listings, key words, listing descriptions etc to make it as effective as it can possible be but ebay are fairly set with the way they do things. I would strongly advise not to do away with your shop and make sure you keep a sharp eye on it while you are trying to get a website up and running as typically it takes longer that you image to get a eCommerce up and running!

It might also be worth looking at getting your items registered on Google Shopping and maybe setting yourself up on social media too. Both are relatively easy if you follow the process. Good information can be found online.
