Advice on where to find a development partner

Hi, I'm new to the forum and in the process of creating an online travel booking site.

The website is pretty much built, I have done quite a bit of market research and competitor analysis, and have a large database of potential clients to contact.

I'm now at the stage where I need to bring other people on board, and the main skill I need is to find a web developer with an entrepreneurial spirit!

Rather than hiring developers, I would rather work with an experienced development partner who wants to invest time and money into the project.

Is anyone aware of an online forum where developers and techies hang out?

Any advice appreciated.

Speaking from the perspective of a developer, I think your chances are very slim. Designers and developers are currently in very high demand and only a tiny percentage of them are tempted by speculative partnerships; even less so if you expect them to invest money.

Although you will no doubt find a few who might be willing to take on speculative projects, the fact the your website is already "pretty much built" is likely to be a big turn-off, as most developers dread inheriting other peoples' half-finished projects.

You might try posting on a site like CoFoundersLab, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

Hi Tim,

Thanks for the reply.

To clarify - the website will be ready to go live by the existing developer....but in future, I will need additional features etc, so think that a development partner who is invested in the business will be a better idea.

A monetary investment would be ideal but investing time and passion is the main priority.

I will have a look at the site you suggested...your input is very much appreciated.

Hi Gary,

Thanks for the advice.

The business model has been proven with other booking agents.

From a lot of research, im confident there is a demand for the niche I intend to operate in.

Its got to the stage where I need to involve others to give it a good chance of success.

I will take the advice on board though.
