Adding email addresses to mailing list

If someone added your email address to a mailing list would you consider it spam? What if 100 different people each added your email address to their email list?

I have a very simple rule, I never buy from spammers.

Technically, if it is a generic business address like info@ or hello@ it is not spam.
Spam relates to personal emails e,g a.name@

But people do it to me all the time. I mark them as spam, delete and forget. (even if it is info@ .. )

Any unsolicited email is spam, full stop. By definition if they have not asked to be emailed adding them to a marketing list regardless of it being info@ or joeblogs@ makes that a spam message.

Where it becomes interesting in the UK is that data protection regs make it legal to spam corporate email addresses like info@ and hello@ but only if the business is incorporated so taking a generic work email off the website of a sole trader, partnership etc is still illegal. Has the OP checked the business type of the website they are taking the email from?

Bottom line, it's really bad practice and regardless of address type you should never spam people.
