Abuse Over Courier Surcharges

Yes, and we get the same thing from Northern Ireland as well (and yes, some do go as far as using words like "discrimination" and "racism" - get a grip people!)


Common comments are:

• "we're not in the highlands" - ok, officially some of them aren't technically in the highlands, but look on a map and they are clearly in the arse end of nowhere

• 
  
  Rubbish, some of the couriers slap a surcharge on the likes of AB41 codes which is not that far out of the city, can understand some of the IV postcodes perhaps.
  
  Ellon is AB41 postcode and is clearly nowhere near the highlands, nor is it in the arse end of nowhere.
  
  The likes of AB56 is on the NE coast so should a scottish company charge more to send to Southend...the list goes on

The customer stated it was 40 minutes outside the city. And the City in question is already pretty remote.

I don't know about the highlands, but I'd certainly disagree about it not being in the arse end of nowhere.

If their courier charges extra then yes.

The problem with so many of you whiners is that you are whining to the wrong people - I'd rather not charge extra to remote locations, in fact I'd love it if I could ship to IOW, ROI, NI, IOM, IOS and H&I for the same price as everywhere else - but I can't, I charge what the courier charges me. If they charge me £15 to AB41 then I charge you £15 for AB41. If you don't like it complain to them not me - or shop elsewhere.

Yes of course you expect some surcharges, personally I don't complain about it, I just either choose to pay or go elsewhere.

That is the thing, some outfits see AB41 as highlands, infact have came across some that surcharge for Aberdeen itselfs....the Oil Capital?

Higher AB postcode for example will have the worlds greatest golf course....well according to Trump, he might even use your slogan....

Exactly you say you don't know, like I said AB41 is NOT highlands and there are plenty other examples.

Bit like saying surcharge to NE codes as they are in Yorkshire or Humberside...but they are not.

Like I said I'm not whining and don;t whine about it but it's not nice to come across comments like yours about certain areas very close to Aberdeen being in the arse end of nowhere!

Maybe a bit far, but arse end of nowhere it's not, you could maybe say that about parts of the Highlands.

Plenty places are not centrally located in the UK hub, plenty areas in Yorkshire are 'in the arse end of nowhere'

Wonder if people in Bell End Green have to pay a surcharge....hardly convenient delivery to that thriving industry, centrally located of course

I don't think the terminology is worth getting heated about. It's all comparative really especially since you're happy to call certain parts of the Highlands the same thing.

I never said I was happy to call certain parts of the Highlands anything, if one must tag an area with that terminology then at least make sure it is actually remote.

There are plenty remote areas across the UK, they are not all in the Highlands and as mentioned many of these postcodes are not the highlands, just because a courier tells you they are.

I'd imagine some people will get their back up when it's quoted to them that the Highlands attract a surcharge and they are clearly nowhere near them.

Same as if I called you and told you I had to surcharge your north east delivery to york....you would question what the hell they were going on about
