30 Post rule

I totally understand the reasons for this but it would have been nice to have been told about it at the point of payment. Nothing is mentioned in the sign up of there being a delay in being able to post links or have a signature in place.

Hey @Balanced HQ - I'll have a look at the payment process and see if there's somewhere we can put it in. At the point of payment there are also other members who have 30+ posts the messaging wouldn't be relevant to everyone.

In the meantime, if you would like to add links to any posts you have made or add links in your signature please send the text through in a PM (with links formatted: www dot mywebsite dot com) and I'll be able to add these in for you.

I don't get the 30 post rule at all, we regularly see new non-paying members jumping into every post relevant to what they do and spam their business, starting new threads and adding inane comments to recent threads, all to get the 30 posts in half an hour.

So why cant a paying member add links and signature straight away?

I don't think it matters as long as there is a process, which clearly there is if its flagged up, to sort it out.

Junk posted just to get the post count up will be deleted if it's detected or reported.

And the 31st post is usually spam, often leading to the member being deleted

My thoughts are on the 30 post limit here - it's not perfect but that's the best way we've found so far. Ideally it would be nice to allow members to add links instantly in their signatures, but the blanket permissions of 'adding links' across the site don't permit the distinction.

It's much more worth a few members contacting me and I can add the links in, rather than the other way around and having links everywhere from dubious accounts that take more time to remove.

Glad I found this thread, thought I was the only one feeling the same way when trying to upgrade your membership. I understand the 30 post rule too, but I suppose just disappointed as there are much better ways to prevent spamming

If you are becoming a paid member I think the signature rule should not apply. Most spammers are not going to bother paying.

There do seem to be quite a lot of new paid members recently who seem to think that paid membership gives them the right to use the forum as an advertising platform (outside of the marketplace).
