Should Staff Be allowed In Late On Monday Morning

    With the England team running on more luck than skill at the moment, should employers allow staff to go to work late on Monday, so they can watch the game, which finishes around 3am, later if extra time and the inevitable penalties?
     
    hell why not give them a bit of time to recover from the pain of watching that stop start football. Think it was Germany world cup when my school had the auditorium rigged up so we could watch all the england games

    My employer used to let us watch on the huge video conferencing screen during working hours. We just had to make up the time and not take the p**s.

    I think it depends on the type of business. May employers could offer this as a thank you to staff, but many will have business needs that make it impossible. Anyway, who wants to watch England be humiliated again?

    Are they going to time off for Tennis, Cricket, Rugby, Padel, etc?

    What about time off for people who don't watch sport? Time off when the new Playstation game is launched?

    Take a half day or call in sick like any normal person would.

    Pubs can now stay open to 5am,!!!!

    I guarantee you there'll be more shots, on average, in the pubs than England will have!

    Depends on the business, if it's not really going to affect your business then yes, its a nice gesture, if it means nobody will be there to support customers then its a no. The mindset should always be customers first.

    Was woken up multiple times during the night with either cheers or groans from the local hostelry. Not a footie fan so was somewhat annoyed.

    I woke up about 4:00

    Thought I would check to see who had won to discover they were in about the 5th minute of injury time, so watched the end.

    Didn't even know the start had been delayed, just a bit of good luck

    I suppose the answer is that it depends.

    I would reverse the question. On your way to work this morning, are you OK with the shops not being open because the staff were given the morning off.

    Definitely depends on the business. The people in critical roles holding critical infrastructure together and keeping things running might not have the same flexibility to do that. Take pilots for example, or surgeons, or someone trying to stop an active cyber threat.
