Domain Name Registrar

Hi,

I have two domain names I want to move who the registrar company is, so that all domain names I own are together in one place.

One of them is a free .com I got with some webspace I once bought, the other is a .co.uk that I bought.

Is it a case of changing the TAG release, and if so, is it simple as I've not done this before ?

I'm assuming this will only change the billing of the domain name ? This is what I want to achieve.

.UK depends on the registrar some charge for transfers out, some require you to send over a signed document and some just let you change the TAG online.

.COM you will need to request an EPP key to give to your new registrar the process can complete anytime from 2hrs to 14 days from the start of the transfer process.

I use 1&1 and find they are really good and usually have most names on the net.

UK2 did in the past not sure if they still do or not.

Quite a few of the smaller .uk registrars charge for transfers out too.

If it's any more than £10+vat we just tell users to go to nominet directly.

does catch a lot of people out, really cheap domain, until you need to change tag.

Years ago there was a site that registered your domain name free...until you wanted to either pay for another 2 years or move away and it was something mad like £40.

I knew a lot of people that got stung
