Company letterhead in .pdf file, how to edit?

Hi,

Our letterhead is in .pdf, but how the hell do I write onto it/use it?

I obviously need to write conent but .pdf will only let me view it, can't edit or write anything?

Download the adobe acrobat free trial version, change the letterhead and save as a new pdf.

Of even better, download OpenOffice (for free) and create a new letter head which you can save as pdf or just about any other format you can think of.

You cant write on to it
You print it off and put it in your printer, then type what you want in word. press print and thats it. you cant edit it unless you created it (i think) or unless you have the right software.

PDF is generally a finished file format, that usually doesnt require editing, you would typically send this to a printers to get printed.

You best bet is to re-implement the letter-head as a word template.

Applications do exist to edit PDF files but these are more to "fix" PDF files, acrobat can make minor changes but something like InFix (http://www.iceni.com/) can be used to edit PDFs a bit better but these tools are typically not very friendly environments as PDF files have some strange charactaristics.

If you need help implementing this in word, send over the PDF (mark AT made4print.com) and I will give it a go and send back the word file.

What I suspect you want to do is use your letterhead to email letters to your clients/customers/contacts on - yes it can be done. I do it all the time.

I use PDF Factory Pro - http://www.fineprint.com/

It enables you to set the PDF letterhead as a background and puts your word document over the top so that the end result is a nice smart typed letterhead which you can send via email.

You should try any program that merges pdf files.

Im a linux user and I use "http: / / pdfchain .sourceforge .net/" (without blank spaces) "PDF Chain"

This program basicaly merges my pdf files as one. It also has some security options like disable printing, encryption, and some more.

I read this program is still in alpha stage, but I installed it from repositories and it works like a charm.

I wouldn't use PDFs as backgrounds in Word etc / import into Word etc. / Convert into Word etc. unless you really have to - Word, while a useful program is dreadful at handling graphics and you will end up with over large files...

Best to go back to the original files / graphics and recreate a word / email template - far more accurate and about the same time to do...

[FONT=arial,sans-serif]Nicola J[/FONT] - Thanks for that tip. I use Indesign to create PDF invoice, letters etc. I love it but HATE microsoft word. Problem is my clients only know how to use that. This software should help matters.

I'm also about to setup quickbooks as a background Letter head can be used to create invoices through a database which is much better than manually creating them in Indesign everytime.

You can use the editer to edit PDF's.

the GIMP can edit PDF files, but your mileage may vary depending on the file itself.
